Body belt is nearly non existant in these models. The hood has terrible mis match on the left corner. this car is popular with real builders in car shows and should have better accuracy and options. Many builders will use corvette engines, axles, and wheels. A total upgrade in the moldings should be done.

The kit is not complex. However, there is quite a bit of flash. Also trimming and sanding is needed to have some parts fit or align well. This is most notably the case for the hood, body, and fender interface. I needed to trim the instrument panel ends to allow the interior to fit into the body. The front fender wheel openings need to be trimmed have a circular shape. This may not be a kit for someone who does not want to do additional work for a good appearance. I personally took advantage of trying to improve my skills and techniques. On a positive note, there are multiple options in the kit. Two engines are included, a Ford flathead and a Buick nailhead. The Buick can be built with or without a blower. An engine stand is included to display the engine not put into the car. There are three types of wheels, two types of exhaust, two types of bumpers, two colors of glass (clear and green tint), and two types of front suspensions. Not mentioned in the instructions is that the chrome front suspension has a lower ride height compared to the non-chrome part. Finally, there are several parts which seem to be for the 1940 Ford sedan delivery kit that are not used for the coupe.

Hello Everyone A lot of people who are just starting in this hobby has a tendency to give negative reviews towards this kit. The tooling is over sixty years old, but it is still a good kit overall. Round 2 needs to clean up the molds for the kit and retool the hood, the hood has fit issues with the hinges, I usually cut off the hinges, also the details on the hood isn’t as crisp or good as it used to be. An option for the hood is to get a replacement from the Amt 1940 / 1939 Sedan kit, the 40 ford hood in that kit has better details and it lines up better. Round 2 anymore likes to milk the molds for what it’s worth, with Coca Cola on all of their kits ?. This kit is still a classic and an easy builder.
