A Key Player in Our Cold War Defense
Revell in its early years either caught or set the spirit of the times. In my cold war childhood, the Nike Hercules symbolized the very serious readiness that deterred kickoff of WWIII. This two-stage, nuclear-armed anti-aircraft missile was deployed in the U.S., Europe and the Far East from 1958 to 1983. About 25,000 Nikes were built. Its complete success is measured by the number of hostile bombers Nikes took out: exactly none. The Revell kit in 1/40—Revell’s constant scale for ground forces equipment back then—makes a large, impressive model. With normal care, the launcher elevates from flat to a high launch angle, and the joints are just sticky enough to hold the launch arm in a raised position. The kit comes with three GIs, their odd body language expressing surprise at finding Nike on their launcher. Atlantis has kept the old Revell product number, H-1804.
Another Oldie.
I completed the Nike missile part and noted this is a very basic kit overall. The parts are flashfree and easy to assemble. I'll complete the launcher another time. I highly recommended this kit to anyone.

I must say this kit is old but fun to build. If you like ADA you will like this kit, outdated but fun for all ages. This kit brought flashbacks of my Army days! This is a must-buy!
Nike
Lots of flash. Pivot pins on launcher break easily. Decals are too thick to settle properly.
