Reviews : Atlantis USAF B-36 Peacemaker Bomber

This kit is uber old school and as such is a royal pain to build I am old school so I know how to deal with such kits and this one tested me. The gaps in the seams are huge you will need a lot of puddy to fill the gaps. The worst section is the main wings they do not go on in the usual way. Instead there is a huge cut out section of fuselage that the wings go into. There is no support to hold the wings on as the glue sets. So set aside a a large area on your table to rig up a support for the fuselage and wings. The The kit has no landing gear you have to mount it on its stand. The detail is very limited and has the stars marked on the plane in raised plastic lines which screw up the decals unless you sand them off. The plane has no guns which should be in the tail and over the nose. I didn't expect much from this kit but still I am disappointed.

While a 'vintage' kit from the outset, the Atlantis B-36 has some challenges to be aware of. Flash and sprue relief is challenging in some small areas. The props must be trapped or if just stuck in they will fall out, just as easy to glue them in. No interior is available and the greenhouse canopy is a nice fit. The tail surface is a challenge to apply to the fuselage without CA as the contact area is minimal and model glue was not doing it. Not a very detailed model to be sure, no gun ports or even outlines for the hatches but the old-school nature of the subject is still fun. Recommended for patient modelers who don't expect too much from the 1950's molds.

At this scale don't expect a lot of detail but are good enough for a nice finished model. Decals are good and the clear plastic stand is very good. I am 76 years old and my hands shake a bit but I ended up with something very nice to display! at this scale don't look for a lot of detail

Got this after seeing a real one at the Tuscon Pima air museum. Kinda reminds me of the Hydra flying wing in Captain America with both props and jets. The model does not have a ton of detail - nothing interior at all. Simple, but looks cool. No landing gear - only in flight version.

Atlantis Models is doing us an awesome favor reissuing these old vintage kits from decades past. With some good modelling TLC these kits turn out so sharp. Check the interwebs for pics of builds. Worth the money.

Just happened to see this iconic cold war aircraft only other B-36 I have seen was the older 1:48 revell kit but that will run you up to 100-150.00 this kit is a great deal but it's a older reissue kit

Fun kit for a quick easy build. Parts fit together nicely. No landing gear but ends up being a nice display with the clear swivel stand.

It is a small scale so be careful. Looks great with a nice paint job. Enjoyed building it.
