Reviews : Academy British M3 Stuart Honey Tank

First off let me say I love Academy kit's. So far every one I have built has been of the highest quality and of exceptional detail. I often think of them as Tamiya (another great model producer) on steroids. This kit is no exception and I truly wish that every manufacturer would go to the extra effort that Academy has in this kit. All the parts come off the sprues cleanly and fit together nicely. An example of this nice fit is the 3 part hull, the back and top pieces fit like a glove land in a logical fashion that leave no evidence of any a seams. If you build this kit yourself you will love that feature. The detail on this kit is absolutely amazing with enough attention paid to the interior of the tank that it does not need replacing with after market parts. The only thing missing is an engine, and the forward transmission assembly which are not likely to be seen where they are located anyway. The one thing that is a little difficult (fiddly) to assemble are the individual like tracks, this is because they mimic (as best they can given the scale) the assembly of the real tracks. I like the attention to detail here as if you have ever change links in a real tank's tracks then you know that is fiddly and awkward to do also. All in all this is a superb kit that you will enjoy building and when have finished it, then you will love the results of your efforts.

I have the same model tank with the U.S. Army version by Academy and the kits are the same except for the British army turret is a bit different. As with the U.S. version both kits are exceptionally well detailed and leave a lot of room to add extra items if wanted. This kit has many items marked off as not used on the British version so they will be left for another tank model. All of Academy's M3 series tanks are equipped this way for the options noted in the instructions. The consistence in the kits are notable making a beginners starting kits to be built very easily. As with the U.S. version this kit had no extra flash from the dyes and appears no differently in quality than other kits.

I built a 1942 Australian two-color camouflage version as used in the end battles of the New Guinea Kokoda trail using decals from my decal box. Great interior detail, nice fit, directions that could use a little more explanation--but if you test fit before you glue and keep referring to the cover photo you will find the right way to put things together. Almost five stars. Why? The individual tracks have teeny links that tend to fly out of your tweezers if you're not careful--and the securing pins on the one-piece tracks are so thin the track can fly apart when you stretch it onto the wheels----so be careful and you'll have a beautiful, unique model.

This kit is awesome! One thing i didn't know is that this kit is it had individual plastic track links that move, but be patient with them because the pins will break when taking them off. This kit has many details and was fun to build. You have the option of making it American or British with the decals. I would suggest having masking tape to make the different colors show on the box. This kit dose take a while to build but other than that its a good kit.

This is the 3rd honey I've built recently, the 1st two were airfix kits the academy Kit is exactly the same, except for different decals and paint scene. I found this surprising, but not bad, because its a very good kit. It has a parcial in interior. Which is always a plus. I would definitely recommend this kit.

Built one as a US Pacific tank. Nice interior especially if you choose to build a turretless tansport/Recon as used by commonwealth forces in Europe after D Day. There are decals available aftermarket for Polish and Commonwealth Recon Unit use.

I enjoyed building this kit. Picked it because I’ve always been a fan of the Stuart tank and I liked the camo scheme. It was fun building a kit with my first interior. I’ve added a few extras but plan to add more.

This was a very nice kit. It went together very nicely. It was surprisingly how small it looked compared to my other 1/35th tanks.

Academy kits are a joy to build. This kit went together very well, is very detailed and has several extras, mg's etc....
