Reviews : Academy U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat

This is a very nice kit of the F-14 Tomcat. Fit is excellent, with no problems encountered. I like the offering of 2 different styles of engine nozzels, 1 open set 1 closed set. Normally when on the ground with the engines shut down one nozzle will be open and one closed. It is nice to have this option. The decals are nice and very colorful , Cockpit detail is good, and can be made better with a PE cockpit detail set. The seats are nicely detailed and with dry brushing and detail painting look very good. Or you can replace them with Resin ones. Landing gear detail is nice,but I replaced mine with the SAC white metal set, as SAC used the gear from my kit for the masters to produce the metal set.I think this is a better model of the Tomcat than the Revell kit although it is a little more expensive it offers more details, IE: 2 sets of nozzels,the radar and it has recessed panel and rivet details instead of Revell's raised. I would recommend this kit.

Have not began assembly of this kit yet but during inspection of the kit when I opened the box shows some nice details. There is very little flash that I noticed and the decal sheet is very colorful. I have a few extra aftermarket pieces that I might or might not use depending on how well the kit parts fit and look together. I look forward to this build but need to finish two other kits before I get started.

After receiving my kit I fully inspected there is hardly any Flash the detail is exceptionally beautiful and I can't wait to build it pictures will be up soon
