I am so glad to have this truck back into production, but I was SO disappointed to find out that the cheap skates at Round 2 CHEATED us into thinking we were going to get the Floatation front tires that the box SHOWS and that the instructions still call-out, but instead they took the cheap route and stuck in two more skinny Uniroyal's (same as the back tires). SUCKS! I WANTED THOSE FRONT FLOATION TIRES for other truck models! Plus, the quality of all these recent kit releases are going downhill because they are being made in ChIna, and not being well maintained I think. The rear suspension is worse than any old antique kit tooling ever, with flash so bad it's like re-carving leaf springs out of scrap... now normally I enjoy cleaning up flashy parts but this is scary! The entire thing is low quality and yet the price of these kits keeps going up & up & up! FORTY DOLLARS??? That's ridiculous! It only cost them a few bucks to make these, no wonder the ceo of round 2 is driving a Maserati!!! The one thing that is nice is that we get a dump box that can be used on practically ANY other big rig truck, and we get an Autocar again...

Well, this is not a kit for the unprepared. AMT has a reputation for challlenging kits and this sure is one of those! There are no part numbers. OK, just look at the pics and go find the piece, this is frustrating to say the least, but it’s doable. The instructions don’t give a very detailed idea of WHERE the pieces should go, OK ,trial and error placement? Not a good idea, so, checking out pics and videoes from others who built this kit is the best way to see where pieces go if you’re unsure. There was a lot of flash on this kit, and some warpage that needed attention, and some pieces don’t line up/ fit very well, also needing some work. Will all that said, this actually builds into a nice dump truck model, but be prepared for sanding/filling/ fitting and trimming to get everything right. But, if everything fit 100% it wouldn’t be modelling, it would just be assembly. I would recommend this kit to modellers with experience and lots of patience.

Being the 3rd AMT semi sized truck that I built lately, this kit came out better than expected. And I did get the 2 front flotation tires (which were packaged separately from the other 8). I especially liked the Rockwell rear diffs and suspension, rare for AMT semi kits and rare for most semi models of any manufacturer. Nice detailed hydraulic system for the dump bed - complete with hoses. I have no idea what the Montone ultra strength heated body is for. I removed it from my build for clearance between cab and dump bed and put the Arizona and Texas tags on it..lol. A non turbo engine and I liked the diamond plate heavy duty front fenders. This thing must have been a tank!

I have a feeling this is an older mold from AMT due to the amount of flashing. The instructions are a bit hard to follow and there are a LOT of parts that need to be test fitted before gluing. I had a hard time getting the hood to fit properly to the cab, but after some fiddling around with the hood mounts and the radiator support, was able to get it all to sit flush. If you take your time and step away when you get frustrated, you will have a very cool build.

Typical amt kit. Lots of test fitting, scraping and filing, and vague instructions. This one, however, was a bit better. Not a beginner kit, but I very much enjoyed it. Decals were great! Someone felt disappointed because they didn’t get front flotation tires. Look them over carefully and you will find two slightly different tires. It’s a subtle difference, but it’s there. Highly recommend this kit for the experienced modeler! As always, have fun!

Kit delivered on time with perfect packaging and no damage to the box. All factory sealed and parts look to be all attached to the spruce as designed. Pretty easy build with little excess plastic. Happy to see an AutoCar model kit and will enjoy finishing this kit.

A very good model,I enjoyed building,love the detail of the bed.The only thing I would change is the dump ram! its a little flimsy but it will have to do.I am definitely going to build another

I loved building this old dump...just a fw issues to deal with like the hood and front grill but with little fitting it all worked out.Probably gonna buy another one of these

Another great re-release of a classic big rig kit. It's a great addition to my construction collection. Kit comes with an expansive decal set with plenty of options.

I am very excited to build this model. It is very detailed and very well molded. I could find nothing to complain about. Very nice kit!
