I didn’t expect to much with this kit, especially being a AMT release. All in all not all that bad of a kit with normal amount of old molds flashing. Direction have you install an antenna mast that is not in the kit and the propeller shaft is also not in the kit. Neither item is even shown on bottom of box parts diagram, I contacted Round2 several months ago for replacements and it looks like they probably don’t exist. Oh well, both can be fabricated from old sprues. I will however still recommend this PT109 kit to anyone who wants a historic torpedo boat in their collection.

I made this kit into a 1/35 scale patrol craft fast. It works out to be 43 ft 9 in long and just under 13 ft wide in scale. I scratch built a deck house, helm station and mounted a .50 BMG on the bow, a 57mm recoiless rifle on the engine house and a 7.62mm minigun on the fantail. It also carries a 55gal barrel depth bomb and 2 light weight torpedos. Mediocre kit provided a decent base for a scratch build.

Pick one up because I haven't built a boat in a long time. Parts are inadequate. Some don't even match up to where they are supposed to fit. Flashing and sprue attachments were grossly sub par. If you buy this thinking you will have a nice finish kit? You will be horribly disappointed. If you want it to make a destroyed diarama? Maybe. Can't recommend this kit in any capacity.

Too many inaccuracies to rate it any higher, no antitank gun, no depth charges, a totally unrealistic prop & rudder set up... Having said that it built up OK into a midwar 103 series boat fresh from the ELCO factory... Good for a quick build, but could build up into an acceptable 109 if you could find the needed armament in 1/64 on the aftermarket
