Unfortunately, the mold used for this kit is worn out down to the flat surfaces in some places, as in the side trim-right in the middle of the length of the trim, it absolutely disappears, as if Round 2 had attempted to correct this flaw but was told to stop because the budget was spent. And this is an area that a limited modeler like myself finds impossible to correct, because it would involve building up that area with putty or plastic, and then rescribing ultra-fine lines. Also, you will find that the 1-piece window is flawed, because they forgot to include the side-vents, and they instead included a piece of clear styrene so you could cut and fit it all by yourself (oh joy). Of course, a rejection of the mold and a redesign would have cost them more than they were willing to spend! And we modelers bear the brunt of this cost-cutting decision.

This is one of a very few station wagons produced today by the kit companies. Overall, it was a fun build; however, the front suspension is a bit tricky due to the number of small parts that are hard to hold in the correct position for glueing. I built mine factory stock. If you build the gasser version, the front suspension will be even more finicky since its built with a lot of chrome parts that did not look very sturdy. The rear hatch opens and closes. I kept mine in the open position to show off the interior. Also, the model comes with two options for the windows - clear and red. I did a bit of trimming on the red and used it for the sides and back while keeping the windshield clear.

Yeah its old technology (1965) it still has lots to offer , such as true multiple building options & lots & lots of goodies ! If you haven't done this yet , treat yourself to a true classic... As far as I can see the for cons is the molded in exhaust system, but then again that's always been a con & since I've built this at 3 times over the years I knew it was there, & the Pro's , well the kit itself since everything is in the box to do customizing....

All the subassemblies go together well. The steerable front end is easy when the kingpin is cemented to the wheel assembly before attaching to the chassis. I had to adjust the dashboard to keep the steering wheel up off the seat. My only beef was the chassis to body. The firewall had to be notched over the distributor & engine block. I fabricated a chrome SUICIDE KNOB @ the 10 o'clock for SMOOTH SOLE BOOTS BIG WHEEL STEERING POWER

I was unsure of this kit but the box art drew me in. The biggest disappointment was the molded in exhaust, especially for the gasser version, the only option is to grind it off which leaves a big hole in the floor. Other than that this kit turned out to be very impressive. You do have to grind out the rear wheel well and make your own side vent windows. There's alot of options in this kit and I would highly recommend.
