Reviews : AMT Meyers Manx Dune Buggy (Original Boxart)

I made the original kit when it first came out, and this one seemed to have a different chassis, but I could be wrong as it was so long ago. I model this Manx as a Surf Buggy, using the Porsche Boxer Engine, did not like the kit engine, also used much bigger tires and wheels as I wanted a real buggy look not the street version. I remember when they came out many where metal flaked, so I decided to go with Testor's Purple Sparkle Paint, no problem, but use the black base paint for this sparkle paint, also the sparkle fixer. I also put CB radio with whip antenna and red flag, with Mexican Blanket on the back seat and front seats have seat belts and interior color black and tan. Used a surf board from another kit, and made my own racks. Since I modified this kit, took a lot of time for fit and finish. Very few parts from kit was used, mostly employed resin aftermarket parts. LOVED the kit, just very small with very small parts, so you have to be careful. It was like building my own Dune Buggy. Love the results... Happy Modeling!

Nice kit. I’ve wanted a dune buggy for a long time, but I had to settle for one in 1/25 scale. The finished model is tiny! Beware small chrome parts on engine. You’ll need to use super glue for the entire engine unless you want to scrape. I used the purple flame decals, but they don’t adhere or settle down well, even with decal set. I used Revell clear top coat and it helped the decals to adhere to the curves. It’s a 3 in 1 kit, so there will be options and extra parts. Have fun!

Includes lots of detail and options, with a fully-chromed engine, 2 types of rims, rear seats or tonneau cover, body or no body, complete front/rear suspensions, removable hard top or surrey top, removable hood, etc... LOTS of possibilities with this wonderful little gem of a kit! Get one!

Just a simple little buggy. Could not have been any easier.
