Two tone 34 Ford street rod
By: sagtbone
The 34 Ford coupe is one of my favorite cars. So when it was reissued I had to build it, again. This kit is one of my favorite kits by AMT. I love the independent rear suspension and the upper and lower A arms up front. I also like the idea that you can build it with or without fenders. I decided to build mine with the fenders. I also decided to paint it in a two tone paint scheme with aftermarket wheels and tires by Pegasus,19 inch up front and 23 inch for the rear. I also lowered the suspension. However, if you chose to build it straight out the box you should have very few problems. I also decided to change the engine. Since its a Ford,it needs a Ford engine so I used a 5.0 Mustang engine but I attached the engine to the kit transmission and it fit with the engine bay with very few modifications. The kit came together relatively easily. However I would not recommend this ki for a beginner. If you have a few kits under your belt, this would be a great kit to build. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this kit as a 8.5. The hood ornament has to be cut in order to make the hood removable without removing the entire grille. The hood also doesn't want to sit flush at the cowl. But I believe some trimming of the thickness of the hood where it attaches to the cowl would let it sit flush.
A Fun Build
Enjoyed this kit immensely. Concerned about the lack of interior detail but all was good with some imagination. Overall, parts fit well with little straightening of the chassis. I used DupliColor automotive spray paint ending up with a nice finish.
