5.0 Powered Thunderbird
This is a rerelease of an older model kit with a new impressive decal sheet and a variety of tires. The kit is simplistic in the number of parts but has some fit issues that can be difficult. The roof, windshield frame, and glass did not go together well. I removed the chrome from the windshield frame and used a lot of putty to connect the roof. The rear part of the roof just doesn't sit well onto the body. The kit comes with two roofs, a continental spare tire kit, chrome engine, clear headlights, and three sets of wheels. I opted to install a 5.0 engine from a newer Mustang kit. All model kits seem to have challenges but they sure are a lot of fun to build!
A classic kit.
This is a kit AMT has reissued periodically since the 60s. The parts count is pretty low and the build is fairly simplistic. Nevertheless, it builds up into a really nice model of a 57 Thunderbird. I'm not really into customs or hot rods, so I cannot really comment on the custom or speed parts. It was an enjoyable build, if for nothing else getting to experience how model building was like in the early golden era of model building.
