Reviews : AMT 1967 Shelby GT350 Car (White)

The 1967 Shelby GT-350 by AMT is a great kit. Most parts fit well, though some require some sanding or trimming. It builds into a nice-looking Shelby Mustang with a detailed 289 motor, multi-part interior, and crisp body. However, it has some faults. First, the front wheels stick out too far, and it takes some careful work to modify the wheelbacks or axle spindles to tuck them into the fenders where they need to be. Second, the modeler must cut open the hood scoop as it is molded closed. Lastly, the decals are brittle and on the thick side. I recommend painting the Le Mans stripes for a better look. Despite these challenges, it is a nice kit. It fits together well, for the most part, and offers a high level of detail, making for an excellent model. I enjoyed building it and plan to build a few more in different variations.

The AMT 1967 Shelby GT-350. Although this was a fun little build, it doesnt help that literally every part needed to be trimmed. There was so much flash and so many mold seams, you could have made another car with what I scraped off. The instructions were a little confusing too. The back seats in particular. The kit came with the trunk as a separate piece. It would have been nice if some trunk hinges were included. The battery had a fitment problem. All in all it's an ok kit. Not the worst I've ever built.

A pretty nice kit with nicely detailed parts, but will need more trimming than average. Comes with an excellent looking decal sheet with multiple color stripe options. The parts fit is above average and the sub-assemblies fit together well. The dash and interior are very nicely detailed and look great with some careful painting. Not a fan of the tires included, but I did use aftermarket wheels and tires. Overall a pretty decent kit that I do recommend.

This is a bare bones kit no optional parts so it can only be built as a stock Shelby GT350 but it make an excellent representation of the real vehicle. Parts fit was spot on and instructions were clear and well illustrated. Flash was very light, just a light sanding took care of that. My only complaint was that there were no black stripe decals other then that it is a great kit. I would recommend this kit to all builders.

I'd heard & read mixed reviews & passed it over repeatedly, but when I finnaly bought it I was pleasently surpised! It appears that it shares some parts with the great 67 Mustang fastback, body needed a little work, mold seams & smoothing out the rocker panels, they were nice & wavy with rough bottoms , but nothing a sanding stick won't fix,good kit to learn on.

I built this kit a few years ago. After watching the movie Gone in 60 Seconds, I was inspired to build a version of Eleanor. This kit is a great kit for customizing it into a version of Eleanor. However, you will need to do some kit bashing for accurate wheels and engine, but if you just want a reasonable replica, this kit is good place to start.

This kit is basically the same as the 1967 Fastback with the exception of having the Shelby body mods. The fit and finish is very good. The detail is among some of the best I've experienced. The only draw back that I had happened to be with the decals for the hood. Other then that, I really enjoyed this kit.

This was a very enjoyable and challenging model to build. I know mine is not as good as a professional modeler, but I did my best. I tried to put as much detail as possible, including using bare metal foil and getting the trunk to open and shut. I recommend this for all, but come with patients.

A good model with plenty of details. Decals could be improved. Stripes are too long for locations and need to be trimmed. Stripes around gas cap and tail lights are particularly problematic and need to be altered to fit. Built Revell’s Cobra and this kit suffers by comparison.

As far as old pre 70s mustangs go I think this is the best looking one. The kit has some nice detail. I really like the grill detail. No optional custom pieces included. It's a bare bones stock gt350 build up. Which isn't a bad thing because it's such a cool car

I have this but haven't started it yet. I'm thinking of different setup. Stock tires aren't my first choice. But really looking forward to the build. Well I finally finished it and it looks pretty nice. I did have ALOT of flash on mine but that was it.

All in all a pretty nice kit. Not a lot of options but I bought it to build it stock so thats ok. There is room to add detail which is what I was hoping for. Fairly clean molds,one tree had some minor flash buttthe chrome and the body were both very nice.

Very nice kit from AMT. Great quality and attention to details, but decals just in white and silver colors and unfortunately there is no black decals - means the car must be painted in darker colors so white or silver decals can be useful.

I've been working on this kit so far it's going together good. Not really much customizing u can do but that doesnt bother me. The instructions are easy to understand. I will post pics when complete.

This is an enjoyable kit to build, with no major flaws. However, the mold is getting pretty old and is not up to today's molding standards. There are mold lines and a bit of flash to trim,

Just received it today. After looking it over I don't see any flash. It looks like it will be a fin project.

I've build this car once all ready and now I'm starting it again!
