Reviews : AMT 1967 Shelby GT350 Car (Black)

The 1967 Shelby GT-350 by AMT is a great kit. Most parts fit well, though some require some sanding or trimming. It builds into a nice-looking Shelby Mustang with a detailed 289 motor, multi-part interior, and crisp body. However, it has some faults. First, the front wheels stick out too far, and it takes some careful work to modify the wheelbacks or axle spindles to tuck them into the fenders where they need to be. Second, the modeler must cut open the hood scoop as it is molded closed. Third, the decals are brittle and on the thick side. I recommend painting the Le Mans stripes for a better look. Lastly, this version of the kit is molded in black. Though not a major concern, I prefer the molded-in-white version. Despite these challenges, it is a nice kit. It fits together well, for the most part, and offers a high level of detail, making for an excellent model. I enjoyed building it and plan to build a few more in different variations.

I've built AMT cars way back in the 60s and they are always better than any other brands. This kit is no different because of the overall quality and ease of following the directions. I started by painting the body and interior with grey enamel paint and moving to a medium blue acrylic using an airbrush which leaves a very smooth coat of semi gloss. Then I completed the engine and chassis, all very detailed but simple by following the directions. So far, so good. I'll complete the interior and put everything together, it's a long process but rewarding. I recommend this and other AMT kits to novice and experienced car builders alike.

The detail was very good. It is similar in ease to put together as the regular 67 Mustang by AMT. Pleased with the detail of the interior, as it is a little different then the stock Mustang. The only issue I had were the decals. They should be in multiple pieces for the over the hood and over the decklid to make it easier. They are one piece and had to be cut. If they are not cut perfectly, they don't look very good. But all in all, a fun kit to build. Would build again.

this is a nice kit for the shelby lover. molded in black there is a kit molded in white also so if you want black make sure you order the kit marked black. no flash to speak of and the molding is sharp and clear on the kit i received. will look great along side my other shelby mustang's. over all a good, detailed kit.

Very good kit! Made with pretty good quality and precision. For creating pretty nice contrast, can avoid painting certain parts because it molded in black. Decals are good, but they are only white and silver, so all stripes can’t be used if model will be painted in brighter colors.

This is a nice older model, with no major flaws. However, the mold is getting pretty old and is not up to today's molding standards. There are mold lines and a bit of flash to trim. Molding it in black actually helps when spraying it a dark metal flake color.

Good detailing, all parts fit well. Lots of flash. Wash parts well or paint will not adhere. Overall, one of the best models I've built.

Great kit. Only down side molded in black. Everything went together easy. Would recommend for beginners. Easy kit.
