Tomahawk by Airfix
By: rlsundquist
The Airfix Tomahawk is available as a starter kit with RAF markings, and as this series-one kit with Flying Tigers decals. The decals are excellent, which is one of the best things about Airfix, besides the price. The kit goes together reasonably well, although the section of cowling with the machine guns didn't quite match the rest of the fuselage, and the landing gear was a bit spongy. Internal detail is decent enough, and some clever little details are preserved, like the canvas covers in the wheel wells. The fit of the canopy is far from perfect, but it will work eventually. I haven't seen many other manufacturers offering a P-40B, so this one is definitely worthwhile.
very good
This model is easy to build and very nice a good representation of an early p-40b or tomahawk 2. you have all the necessary parts to do any of them, even if you have the wrong box. I cannot say I was disappointed with anything, because it assembles very nice however, personally, I'd like to see the characteristic front air entry with a little more inner detail. Its not bad, but, compared to the typhoon, could have a little bit more in there... appart from that, very good only pay some attention when glueing the glass, test and retest the fit before making it definitive....
Great Plane for a great value

This is a great kit. It has good fit, there was no flash, the mold lines are clean, the panel lines are well defined, and the list goes on. This is a perfect kit for the beginner as it is easy to assemble and looks great with a minimum of skill. It will also please the more experienced modeler as it gives a lot of opportunity to add minute detail. I also think everyone will be pleased with the price! Absolutely a great value.
Welcome addition

This is a nice looking plane. It goes together well and is a good sectional design. How ever the smaller parts, such as the control stick are very fragile. It is best to cut the spruce away from the part and not put any tension on the part while cutting away from spruce. But I really liked the decals and the paint scheme and it is a welcome addition to my collection.
