Reviews : Bachmann Prairie 2-6-2 with Tender Southern Green

This model does not do well on 9 and three quarter inch radius curved track due to the front truck derailing constantly due to a design defect. It ran much better on 11 inch radius but I still had a little trouble possibly due to my Kato automatic block signal pinching the wheel. It is a beautiful engine (southern green) with my example running smoothly and quietly. It had one slightly out of round drive wheel. Bachmann could probably correct the front truck's derailing with the addition of a spring between the front truck and the body as they have on the rear truck.

I got one of these for my dad. It runs nicely but is a little noisy. Also the front truck details more frequently than others but, otherwise, not a bad runner. Plus it looks gorgeous.

the 262/tender-prairie for Sothern- color green is a good little loco , I would keep a good stock of them on hand you will not have them for long ! Be well and stay safe . George
