Chooch load 7244
I have several Chooch freight car loads and overall I am very pleased with them. The appearance of this load is high quality and an accurate portrayal but there is a couple of down sides. If you are going to use this for a 40' or 50' gondola or flat car you will have to cut it. I opted for an Athearn RTR 65' mill gondola load instead but there is a problem there as well. It is too wide to fit Athearn RTR gondolas of any length and by a considerable margin. Here cutting the load is not an option and grinding it isn't either because there is too much to be taken off. In addition and worse still the casting I got is bowed downward in the middle which rules out use of this product as a flat car load. I think Chooch missed the mark on this one so I can’t recommend it.
