Very flexible kit at a great price
I was looking for a building to replace a lost piece of the two-part factory (Walthers?) that I was restoring from when I originally built it so many years ago. This building did the trick nicely. It pretty much fit just right and was almost exactly the same style as the building it was to complement (see pictures). The modular nature allowed me to put the doors just where I wanted them. Considering how much the modular pieces are when sold separately this model is a steal and I can't see why I would buy anything else. I added a foundation to the model to help match the existing one, and a foundation always helps stability. The model isn't perfect, however. It's actually pretty complicated to put together, and the cardboard roof is a joke. I didn't have anything large enough to replace it but I did use a piece of posterboard, rough side up, instead. This looks a bit better. There was minor flash and sprue nubs that were easy enough to deal with.
Outstanding Buildings
I have several building units from DPM including a number of built-up complete kits as well as the building sections to make up fronts with windows and doors. These kits are useful in any setting and complete a city block scene with any theme in mind. The sections go together in almost any combination whether all kit parts or mix and match for a custom building and block. Painting and detailing the buildings are up to you as to how much extra you want from each building. Every building in a city scene is completely different than the one next door! Wear and tear on the buildings vary like anything people build, from bare brick to painted with five different colored coats of paint. It's your city block, so go to town as the saying goes.
Great For Learning And Superdetailing
Very easy assembly which will familiarize you with the DPM building technique. It also will lend itself well to much super-detailing such as interior and exterior details. My kit went together in a weekend and sold on eBay for more than double the price!
Perfect Accent
This building actually serves two purposes 1 to learn how to assemble this particular brand and the other to add a volunteer fire station to a small town on my layout.
