Big version of the original disappearing rocket
This Mega version of the venerable Estes Mosquito is a lot of fun to build. The fins, which are each made up of 3 layers of balsa which you laminate together, take some care in making sure that they are weighted down well while the glue dries. Otherwise, it is a pretty routine build for the motor mount & recovery installation. It takes a while for sanding to round the edges of the fins. When the fins are put on, this rocket is pretty big and takes up a lot of space in your storage box. The large size leaves a lot of room to be creative in painting & decorating the rocket. Unlike the original tiny Mosquito kit, which was at best a blur, and disappeared after pushing the button, this kit is very a crowd pleaser, being very visible both on the pad, and through the lift off & recovery and easy to find.
