I was recently asked which bulk pack of rockets would be most suitable for a group of first time flyers. Having built a lot of the other choices that were mentioned, I thought it would be a good idea to familiarize myself with the GE2X in order to have a more informed opinion. As almost RTF rockets go, this one is excellent. I had it built using wood glue within about ten minutes and found nary a gotcha with the whole project. Estes even seems to have listened to the complaints about the shock cords because this one was roughly twice the length of the cords I've seen in the recent past. Perfect for a cub scout group that wants to be in the air quickly. This rocket can be built at the normal den meeting, decorated at home, then flown on the weekend.

With a little help, the boys in our Bear Den (3rd graders) were able to put this rocket together over the course of two meetings. The one-piece plastic fin unit eliminates any frustration with fin alignment. The most involved part of building this kit is the engine mount (which is pretty simple). After two meetings and a little white glue and paint, we were at the park with a bulk pack of A8-3s. By the end of launch day, we had almost 20 new rocketeers (kids and adults)! This bulk pack is a little more expensive than others, but the simplicity you get with it is well worth the cost.

Easy to build rocket. I bought this bulk pack for a Scout activity (10 year olds and a 7 year old brother). It took about an hour to put together and that was with waiting for everyone to be on the same step. No need to worry about fin alignment. Be careful not to use too much glue on the engine mount, it can get soggy and collapse. This rocket will launch great off an A, B, or C engine (the C creates enough heat to start to melt the fins, but will hold up for nearly a dozen launches).

I teach Physical Science to 8th graders and we always end the year building, decorating and launching these rockets as a celebration of all physical science has helped us achieve. The students love it, other grades come and watch launch day on the football field. Even the elementary students and teachers come over to watch the countdowns and get excited about science. It's a great way to end 8th grade and send them on to the high school.

This is my favorite rocket to build with scouts. It has a parachute, Plastic 1 piece fins and can be put together in about 45 min when I'm helping 12 boys to work on it at once. Yes it does cost a couple of dollars more but well worth it.

Had a Christmas family rocket decorating and launch contest. This was a great rocket for all ages. Economic to buy them in bulk and it was and easy build.

Good rocket but the parachute is a pain to stuff in that little tube.
