A great streamer alternative, except when it's cold
This is the lower limit of parachute size for most rockets. Any smaller, and you might as well use a streamer. However, the 6 inches will give more slow-down power than most streamers in low-power rockets. A few things to keep in mind about this parachute. First, in cold weather, the plastic has a tendency to stick or stay folded. This means you risk a plastic ball serving as your parachute. However, if your rocket is small and light enough for a 6 inch parachute, then this ball will still slow down your rocket in a manner similar to a streamer.
This should be in many rocket kits
Many of the smaller Estes BT50 kits don't need a 12 parachute, often leading to long walks to retrieve a rocket. This is an excellent substitution.
