Basic. But good
By: fosk
This was my first go with an “easy build” Hobby Boss kit, so I didn’t really know what to expect. When you open the box you’re greeted with packaging that looks like a die cast model. Clear, form fitting plastic that you ‘pop’ the pieces out of. The fuselage and wing halves are already assembled. All you have to do is clue the 2 pieces together. Both the fuselage and the wings still needed a little sanding to get rid of the seams. The wing to fuselage fit is very good with little filler needed. The wheel well fairing on the other hand needed a lot of sanding and filling. The surface detail is really good with nice engraved panel lines. You will need to a little research on your own as there is no color call outs for the interior. Cockpit detail is minimal, no instrument panel, no joy stick. Decals were good and went down well with micro-sol and micro-set. The reference pictures for decal placement don’t show any yellow stripping on the wings, and there is no decal provided for them, but the box art shows yellow stripes on the wings. You’ll have to paint them yourself if you want them. Overall, it’s a really good model with better than average fit and surface detail. Finished product looks good and for $8 it’s a no brainer.
Typical Hobby Boss model

I love Hobby Boss models because of their excellent exterior details and this one is no exception. As usual, it goes together easily with excellent fit. The cockpit has only two seats for details but in this scale it is ok. My only complaint is that interior paint details are lacking but that is typical of most Hobby Boss models. Decals go on easily and the completed model looks great. Nothing to really watch for during the build as everything meshes together nicely.
AT6 Texan
This is a pretty nice little kit, very simple, super quick build, nice exterior detail, good decals…though the decals are very basic and no black walkway or yellow stripes are included, the cockpit is non existant, just two seats, and this is why it only gets four stars, it needs a basic cockpit since the canopy is so large, some research and a bit of scratch building/scavenging will be needed if you want it to look better. Overall it was a fun afternoon project.
Very well detailed! nice little bugger!
I bought this because I was doing a colonial war compilation of airplanes... And this was the first one shipped, the T6 texan (known to us as Havard). It was used mainly as observation or with the wing guns to provide support. The kit itself is nice, very nice! loved the cockpit, the recessed panel lines were adequate, nice surface, everything made this a good model. Not hard to do, a nice propeller model, almost seamless.
A nice model at a good price!
Another Hobby Boss easy builder kit, it features low parts count, one-piece fuselage and wing assemblies, and two decal options (USAF and PLAAF). Includes a simple cockpit. Detail overall is good for the scale. Accuracy and detail is more than acceptable. A nice little model at a good price!
