Reviews : HobbyBoss EZ MiG-15bis Fagot

So far I built the kit in Russian markings (photos previously posted). I recently built it in Chinese markings (photos posted along with this review) and I intend to also build it in North Korean markings (decals from another brand of kit). This is a quality kit at a value price. There is a good level of detail in the cockpit (and you can add more with a little paint and imagination); the gun barrels are molded separately and have to be installed separately (a little tedious but worth it), sharp engraved panel lines, excellent surface detail and choice of drop tanks round out a very fine model and fun build.

I really wanted to give this model 5 stars but it's so tail heavy that it required several fishing weights to keep the model's nose down. Other than that it's a great model to start developing your skills with. The price is right and the model fits together really well. It required very little filler or sanding. It's not overly fiddly and it has just the right amount of decals. With some primer and a couple of paints it turns into a very nice piece. It'll look great on any bookshelf. I would however recommend a good detail brush for the canopy.

This model like most hobby boss planes are easy to build. There are few parts and they fit well there is not a lot of detale. The cockpit has a seat and stick and that it also the cockpit glass is in the closed setting. With a little work the landing gear can be show up or down. The decals are for two planes and must be use with care. But a easy build for all.

Like many of the other HobbyBoss EZ Build kits, this one actually has decent detailing, considering the price. You will need to add quite a bit of weight to the nose to make the model sit correctly on its tricycle gear. Sanding will make for nice joints where the parts come together. The cockpit is sparce. I added some extra detail to enhance it a bit.

Unlike most of Hobby Boss's other easy builder kits, it features a decent parts count, with a surprisingly good cockpit. Two decal options are included, and the surface details are very robust. This release is full of surprises, and a step or two above HB's other 1/72 aircraft. If you enjoy early Soviet jets, this one's a must-have!

The airfix mig 15 available on this website is superior in detail and not made in China. This kit was not even buildable and the decals were like rubber and impossible to apply.

Very good model. Precise and high quality. Don’t’ forget to place counterweight while building to stabilize the model.

This was an easy assembly kit, would recommend for novices and beginners.
