The purchase price got me, but the level of detail sealed the deal. This model has twenty sprues and 785 parts. This is not a weekend build. I put in approx. 80 hours of work to completion. Individual tracks are tricky, but these are large enough to handle, and went together well. For me, they did not fit well around the drive sprocket. The interior is just amazing! Two-thirds of the instructions were devoted to the interior. There were some knockout marks on the interior roof that need to be dealt with. The lack of paint callouts for the interior is disappointing. Test fitting is a must! Subassemblies should be built and installed, but not glued. That helps in painting them separately and then gluing them in. The level of detail is astounding. The engineering is outstanding! All of the hatches, including the huge crew overhead hatches, all open and close tightly! Nice. The Good thing is that some details were tiny and delicate but not fragile. In fact, the only part I broke was the spotlight on the .50 (easy fix). I wish the parts were identified (control box, bilge plumbing, etc). Tamiya did that when I was a kid, and I always appreciated the education. The actual Amtrac has a “UGWS” not “UWGS.” Some notes on construction; D26 is reversed in the instructions. Part N19 is never called for the instructions, but the illustration shows it installed and finally, the water drives are finicky and I had to cut, trim and modify them to fit. The upper deck fits poorly to the tub. There are going to be some large gaps that you are going to have to deal with. I used stretched sprue to fill in, and then filed it as flat as possible. There was no color callout for the interior, so I mixed my own. 10 parts primer gray, 3 parts green and 1 part yellow. A Devil Dog I know actually was on an Amtrac crew. He liked it, and said the color is “Sea Foam.” Again, test fitting is a MUST with this one. The drawbacks for me are: no color suggestions on the interior. No figure(s). The baffling rationale of leaving the windows solid opaque plastic on the weps station. The weps hatch and back hatch and fiddly and the up/down cable for the back hatch is poorly placed in the instructions. The gaps in the final assembly are very large and difficult to deal with. This is not for a beginner. However, an experienced builder will be rewarded with a large model that has endless possibilities for additional crew, gear, diorama settings, etc. The interior is mindblowing. The price is very reasonable.

Excellent quality model. I always liked the AAVP-7 landing vehicle so I figure it would go great with model tanks and armour collection and good price no complaints . I like Hobbyboss models they seem to have very accurate details no flaws what so ever a good choice brand when building model tanks or planes .
