Reviews : HobbyBoss T26E4 Super Pershing Pilot 1

This is the second model I have bought from HobbyBoss and they are very detailed with their pieces but like the first Pershing I did the Manual is off, meaning it not as clean cut and forward as other model companies so you just need to pay attention a little bit more when putting the model together. The model goes together quite easily, the plastic parts are stiff so that can be both good and bad when assembling not very giving in flexibility but for that if a part breaks you can shave it down easily and glue it with almost no notice. I would have to definitely say it does require time and patience for the tiny pieces that have no room for error, if you are thinking of buying for a beginner, you may want to rethink due to the manual for it is not beginner friendly but that is only my personal opinion, I would hate to see some one get flustered at the beginning of the build, but I think any one else with a little experience will have a lot of fun I know I did!! This kit has the added boiling plating armor on the front and the Panther armor on the mantle with the counterweight bat wings on the side. The kit built pretty well with no major problems. I like that two sets of tracks are included- one a single rubber band type or plastic individual track links. I went with the individual inks and they took about two hours to build, but look so much better then the rubber band ones. There are photo etched parts for the storage racks. The barrel is in two halves, but the seems was not bad after some sanding.

Nice kit. Some minimal flash issues. Like the engine bay detail. Very cool that you can build it and use the torsion bars and keep the suspension active. Little let down that there are not inserts in the rollers and sprockets to let them roll freely. Nice to have 2 track options in the kit (rubber band and individual link). Goes together with no fit up issues.

Waited a very long time to get a hold of this model, very pleased with the product. Incredibly detailed machined parts, terrific standard to be expected from Tamiya Models.
