Reviews : HobbyBoss EB Akula Class Russian Attack Sub

First this is a positive review however understand there will be no model card just the box description for newer Akula paint layout. I was not upset, there are 3 colors for the Modern Akula ie K-295 Samara. The pre 90'ish red bottom Akula I vs Akula I (i) and Akula II/III is an easy line to make, easy kit. For subs this size it is rewardingly detailed good start vs 1:350 little more difficult. Periscope, esm and radar mast sail top is optional diving version comes with the kit all masts secured. Paints for modern are Flat Black, Insignia White and Gold, for pre 90's add Hull Red.

This kit is very simple it comes with options dive planes out or in. Periscopes up or down. The hull is cut in half at the waterline ish. the conning tower is already molded to the top of the sub. All you add there is the periscopes. Then put on the propeller and make the stand which is 3 parts. Then paint and decal all done.

The Akula continues this reputation of easy to build, well fitting quality kits. Be careful with the decals - they can be delicate.

Only 8 parts to assemble (with options for periscopes up or down and dive planes in or out). Even at only 6 inches in length, there is an amazing amount of detail molded into the hull. Hobby Boss did not scrimp on the details simply because it is a small kit, making this a real bargain at $8.19 for the kit.
