Reviews : Hasegawa A7A Corsair II Aircraft

I got this to be in my collection... Still needs to buy a new one to make it with Portuguese Airforce markings. I did saw some of the other reviews who gave average on it. How can I say this?... It is not a bad model. Its not one of those kits that you nod your head and throw it out, or give to the dog as a chew toy (dont do that! it may brake in small parts and choke them!!!)... But... When we see so many hasegawa kits with a perfect detail and carefull construction, and we see this, the first thought is that we were fooled and someone switched the kit... Until we see hasegawa engraved on it... Until we google and find out it is really old... and that is the thing: its an old kit. we don't get a cockpit with full detail, nor the gear wells have fine details... But it does the trick! sometimes, the less details it has, the more realistic it looks! its not hard to build, And with some extra weapons, the look is a killer! I do recomend it, even if it is old... a classic kit. But bear in mind that detail, or you may feel disapointed when opening up the box. But believe me, it does look good when done.

Kit is from 1986. The kit comes on 3 sprues in softly molded gray parts, and 1 clear parts sprue.Panel ines are of the raised kind. Detail is lacking. The cockpit has no detail and doesn't come with a control yoke. The seat is just a slab with no detail at all.The wheel well deatil is non-existant as well. Parts had lots of flash which needed cleanup.Fit is just average with filler needed in all the usual places: wing roots, fuselage halves, etc. There is no option for an open canopy which is fine since there is nothing to see anyway. The kit does come with lots of ordinance: 2 sidewinders, 2 drop tanks and MK 81 and MK 82 snakeyes on 2 sets on triple ejector racks. The decal options do provide for 2 colorful models and they did go down pretty well. Overall basic kit, makes into a nice A-7, just don't look too close.

This is an old Hasegawa A-7 kit, what I mean is that it comes with raised panel lines, rivets where needed, minimal interior and simple landing gear. It comes with 3 grey sprues with 60+ parts, and a clear one for the canopy. It's well moulded and the parts fit very well in general. It's a robust kit. The armaments include a couple of sidewinders (that look very simple), 18 free fall bombs, and a couple of fuel tanks. Decals are of good quality, for two versions choice. Instructions are simple and with various steps. This old Hasegawa kit is on a very reasonable price and is basically quite good in outline. If you want a non-fussy build, then you might like grabbing one of these. I was pleased with the building process and the results, but i'm talking of the late nineties...

One of Hase's 1/72 long-reboxed aircraft kits. It has a nearly non-existant cockpit (just a seat/pilot and IP, no tub), basic wheel wells (non-scale depth in the nose well), shallow intake trunk, crisp moldings and acceptable surface detail. It includes a decent selection of stores (2 types of bombs, and wing drop tanks). Features markings for two gray airframes. While the included ones feature colorful elements, aftermarket decals will offer plenty of alternatives. Overall a nice builder that will look at home on your shelf!

nice detail for the price. the only thing I don't like about Hasagawa kits are the painting instructions, which, while highly detailed with excellent paint keys, are done in B & W or blue tints. sometimes this is hard to wrap your mind around if you are not using the box art for a guide. otherwise this is a great little kit. be SURE and place the star decals on the sides BEFORE mounting the missile. did have trouble getting the wings to match up with the fuselage. highly recommend.

This plane has much good about it. The cockpit has little detale but comes with a pilot. The parts fit well and inst are easy to read as the color guide. With some work the landing gear and cockpit glass can be showen up or down the real care must be for the bombs that go on the hardpoints. There are decals for two planes they are easy but care in placeing. But a good plane.

This is another good 1/72 Hasegawa kit of the early A-7. It comes with nice surface detail, a vast amount of bombs and armament, and a decal sheet to choose from 2 different Navy squadrons. Best 1/72 A-7 kit for the price!

I had built the 1/48 version of this model and thought of building the 1/72 scale and frankly I enjoyed the build. I added 11 scratch built pieces that gave the model more realism.

Great fit. Little cleanup. Detailed instructions. Very accurate in 1/72 scale.
