... That loving feeling...
I am a fan of the F14 tomcat. No other way to say it. This is the first version of it, and I believe with the front small cannard, which was not used in the later production models. This was a great plane, it could take out 6 enemy in one turn, and although heavy, one astonishing airplane. like Hasegawa model. On the outside we have a lot of recessed details, nice ventings, nice parts, nice fit of the nose on the fuselage, good sweeping of the wing. In the high visibility painting, it looks nice. A tomcat for everyone to remember.
Inspirational
I really enjoyed the build. I'm VERY green when it comes to building models. This one went together soooo smoothly. I'm sure there were areas that could've been improved by better tooling, but I don't think I could point out any of them. I could really get into my Zone and escape the world while I was working on it. My patients is to blame for the paint being wrong.
F-14A Tomcat (High Visibility)
This was a very fun kit to build. I had talked with my local modeling club about how to deal with the variable sweep wings with painting. Basically finish the wings then assemble the fuselage, then mask the wings. That worked mostly. I did not apply enough coats of clearcoat and when I removed the masking, the decals came off as well. Fortunately, I had some extras.
The Best 1/72 F-14A!
Hasegawa has created THE best F-14A in the 1/72 scale. The kit has great detail and a nice weapons set. This particular kit even has decals to create either 2 of the most famous Tomcats squadrons, the Jolly Rogers and Sundowners. Raised panel lines are the only issue, but it is still a heavily recommended kit for all you Tomcat lovers!
A Finicky, but decorative, Tomcat!

The kit is fairly detailed. Wish the cockpit was better detailed, along with the seats (NO EJECTION HANDLES!). The build is a little finicky, especially with the alignment of the wings. The kit has raised panel lines, which to me made no big difference. Where I believe this kit shines is the decals! Two very solid scheme options!
