Another Great Kit by Hasegawa
By: sboreczky
Just finished building the 1/700 scale USS Alabama by Hasegawa. An excellent model with very good detail. The fit was superb, which is a big reason I look for World War II ships by Hasegawa before other brands. The fore and aft bridges and masts went together very well. The main and secondary guns were easy to put together and also fit perfectly. Decals were nice and even though very small, I used tweezers and a straight pin to position and then added a dab of decal set. This worked for me, especially on the small float planes. The AA guns were a challenge. Very small so tweezers are a must. What worked for me was placing a very small drop of glue on the bottom and then setting them down with the tweezers. Overall, this model and brand gets a 5 out of 5 from me. You will not be disappointed.
Great kit, nice to see this battleship class available
I built this kit a few years ago. As usual Hasegawa has created a kit with great attention to detail. Although some of the parts, especially the small antiaircraft guns, are extremely small (and difficult to handle for someone like me who has big fingers), this is easily remedied by using tweezers, which I did not pick up on until more recently. I have been building various ships for several years and this one is a fine addition to the collection.
