Decent, inexpensive alternative
By: saerdo
It's not a Tamiya, that's for sure, there are some fit issues with the suspension but nothing that can't be overcome. The directions are pretty straight forward and are easy to follow. I didn't go with with the stowage that came with the kit with the exception of a box or two. Verlinden made a stowage kit but that's out of production and Legend makes one that's rather hard to find, but with a little imagination you can come close with other after market products. I used the musette bags and tarps from the Cyber Hobby Shermans that were recently released. I suppose I got this more for the basic Easy Eight and the decals. One thing about the directions, they say to use the stars for Fury but in the movie, there were no stars on the tank. I didn't use the cable with the kit, it's too stiff. I cut off the plastic cable and substituted waxed thread. There are two sets of tracks. The T66 track is more appropriate for WW2 but Fury has the T84E track so I used that one. The track is more pliable than the typical Italeri kit. I painted my Fury overall Tamiya Olive Drab and Nato Black. Regular black is too stark. This is provides a real basic model, with a little imagination and creativity, one can have a lot of fun with it.
Worth the price if you like the movie
I would only recommend this kit to anyone looking to build a scale replica of the tank in the movie because the model is reasonably accurate right out of the box however it does leave much to be desired in terms of fit and quality. The build does require some modifications to compensate for the poor fit in some areas but its nothing too difficult for an average modeler. On the plus side the kit has a low part count to complete the model and you end up with plenty of extras for the spare box. If you are looking to build a M4A3E8 tank not affiliated with the movie then I would recommend Tamiya's easy 8 sherman kit instead of this one.
Italeri M4 Sherman 76mm, I Like It!

Great kit with easy to follow instructions! I really don't like the Tamiya 1/35th M4A3E8 Sherman It's got to many tiny parts that are easy prey for the Carpet Monster, and there are some lower, upper hull fit problems! This is probably due to the fact Tamiya doesn't use a bath tub style hull assembly. The Italeri M4 Easy Eight isn't over engineered like some other brands and is great for a beginner and interesting enough to keep an expert entertained. I would definitely recommend this kit and I'll without question buy another one real soon!
Re-Kit of an Older But Good Model
I bought the original kit several years ago of this, what I believe is the newer re-kit using many of the same parts for the turret and body. I then took the road wheel sets from another kit to make a Korean War model of this kit. I wanted a Korean War M4A3E8 (Easy eight) as seen in the opening months of that nearly forgotten war. The highly modified model that I produced is a special project but well worth the effort. As far a the listed kit I would recommend it to an experienced model tank builder.
bad.... not worth the money or time.
I don't like giving bad reviews. but this was a bad model. it was my first Italeri and will be the last. bogeys don't fit. mis-marked parts/sprues missing parts. warped parts.etc lots of flashing/lots of sanding.upper hull was at least an 1/8 inch too short when fitting to lower hull. that being said. I kept the gear and supplies/decals to go on Tamiya easy 8. spend your 42.00 on Tamiya.also instruction booklet hard to read numbers don't match sprues.
OK kit for the price
I bought this kit about four months ago because I'm a fan of the movie. I'm not an expert on building models, but I have a good amount of experience. Over all, I'd say the kit is OK. There were some fit issues and you have to pay very close attention to the placement of items on the hull. The stowage is not correct for the movie, but there's plenty of other options for the stowage. This kit, along with some of Bravo-6's Fury figures make a great scene!
Enjoyable build
I have not built models for about 20 years and am now getting back into building them, no master model builder for sure. I thought this was a good model to build, easy directions to follow. This is my fourth Italeria brand model kit and I have liked building this model brand so far.
Painting
The problem so many modelers make is painting the inside of the hatches White. While the Turret interior is in fact White the hatches are never painted White because of them then making the perfect target. The hatches are painted the same color as the exterior.
Easy 8
This kit is not very good because it is a static model, none of the boogie wheels turn and there is just a small amount of plastic holding the wheel sections to the hull. They break easy when you try to place the track on the wheels and drive sections.
Fury tank
I was going to buy this kit but I decided that I am going to buy another type of sherman, it will work out just the same in my opinion any was
