This model took me 6 months to complete and almost made me quit modeling as a hobby. I've seen other people complain about Kitty Hawk models, but I had good experiences with their helicopters and thought it was exaggerated. Nope. Everything that could be wrong with this model is wrong: - Very poor fit, especially the wings - Ridiculous part count, with a lot of it being assemble for the sake of assemblimg including tiny and important components. The joystick had 3 pieces. The landing gears had 10 and were impossible to assemble without breaking - There's a lot of detail... on the inside. The engine is half the build, then you cover it with the fueselage. - The decals are the WORST quality of any model I've ever built. Even as a seasoned modeler who prides himself on doing very hard decal jobs, I broke every single one. They are just too thin and low quality to work with. - Flaps have too many pieces, inducing poor fit - Useless photo-etch fret and etc...

The Kitty Hawk 1/48 F-35B Lightning II is a highly detailed kit with many decal options. The decals are thin and fragile. Therefore they must be applied with careful manipulation. Parts fit on this kit was very problematic and will require extensive putty filling. I would recommend this kit for advanced modelers with a lot of patience.

This kit has a relatively low parts count with basic cockpit detail and overall good fit. It includes a PE fret among other things. The model also includes a pilot figurine.
