A Pleasant, if Inaxcurate, Build
This is a surprisingly nice kit. Part fit is good, if a little fidly, and very little flash considering the kit's age. The only challenges come in the area of accuracy. The model is based on a contemporary painting by a Portuguese artist who clearly was not a shipwright. The model's dimensions seem off, particularly below the waterline. I chose to exclude the 140 cannons, represented by stub barrels protruding from the triangular gunports. Accuracy aside, the kit is a pleasant build of an unusual subject. Good
Sails, flags, masts, and life boat all in white resin. Stiff full sails. Raised details are good and whiye resin allows for weatherring straight from the box.
The main rigging is resin in dark to medium brown. ( kit includes a small spool of rigging rope and anchor rope. )
The rest of the boat is molded in dark brown. Wooden hull and all wooden pieces have raised woodgrain details.
Cannon bases are good enough, yet the cannon are kindof oddballs.
