Reviews : Moebius 1956 Chrysler 300B

This is the third Moebius kit I have built. The first one went together beautifully and was comparable to a Tamiya. I encountered some issues with the second one, and so wasn't as enthused. I figured I'd try a third one to determine whether I'd buy more. BLAST! This third one fell somewhere between the first and second! Here are the issues I encountered: (1) Step 3 says to cement Transmission Selector #34 to the dash, however it is not shown in the diagram. I spent time looking for #34 only to find a number stamped on one of the chrome sprues, but the actual part had been cut off and apparently isn't used with this kit. (2) The steering wheel does not leave enough space from the front seat for an actual person to have drive the car. (3) The front spindles required cementing in order to stay in place, and still allowed one of the front tires to toe in, and therefore doesn't look very good when viewed from the front. (4) Final assembly states to cement the Radiator Assembly into the Frame Assembly. The problem is there isn't enough room for it to fit between the fan and the frame. I had to remove the fan to get it in and depend on the shroud to hide the fact there are no blades. (5) I had planned on displaying this with the hood down, so didn't use many of the decals on the engine as I thought this wouldn't show. Unfortunately, the breather is just a fraction too tall so the hood doesn't quite close all the way and the edges of the hood would be visible. Now I must display it with the hood open where the lack of decals will be apparent. I will probably try another Moebius as the detail is great, but I wouldn't recommend this particular kit.

After having built 2 of their very small line of car kits, and having an absolutely wonderful time, I never would have thought that they would stoop to cheapening their second generation kit, but that is what seems to have happened! Here are the biggest of the problems, following the order of the instructions... 1. The whitewall tires are hollow and the wheels do not hold worth a darn. 2. The steering wheel, as positioned by the dashboard and the tab on the steering column, places the wheel touching the front seat. 3. The front suspension parts including the control arms and the pins on the spindles are so weak and are inclined to fall apart, so that you may find it necessary to glue them, but then they can no longer swivel, and the concept of movable wheels is lost. 4. There is only 1 gluing tab on the front window, and the butt joint at the top separated so that there was a gap between the 2 parts that is impossible to hide or correct. 5. The windshield wiper bag is a poorly designed casting that is flat and actually looks smaller than its decal. I substituted a part from my extras stash. The antenna is another throwaway part that you will want to replace. 6. The door handles were originally supposed to use locating pins and matching holes. Somewhere after the instructions were finished, they decided to change this to a tab and slot, and even though you sand all four mating surfaces, the handles still do not fit well. Exercise care in sanding the mating surfaces, or you could leave some raw plastic showing.

This kit is very well detailed and a high quality product.The skill level is 3 but, unless you are a beginner, it's well worth the effort. The subject is a very worthwhile addition to any car enthusiast's collection. The instruction sheet is beautifully rendered with sharply detailed illustrations and clear step-by-step instructions. The kit has been designed better than most by other makers. I have built this kit and I highly recommend it for anyone who appreciates detailed, accurate and well designed model car kits. Decals for engine room,interior,and exterior are included as well as a really nice set of wide white wall tires. The frame is separate from the floor pan and the engine has extreme details molded in that are rare at this scale. The interior side panels are separate and in high relief. There are optional wheel choices. Just a really nice kit.

The 300B is a PRETTY car. But Moebius kinda missed .... First, the windshield isn't quite big enough, with noticeable gaps at either end, and tough to get in place. Second, where the exhaust pipes go under (over?) the rear end, they don't leave enough space for the rear end. I invented new curse words trying to get the rear end straight, and failed - now the right front tire doesn't sit on the ground. The dash is nicely detailed, though again you have to use the delicate decals (that need to be trimmed close) for the gauges - but the REALLY NICE steering wheel sits on the front seat!! If you can overlook or overcome these difficulties, you can get a great shelf piece. I give 4 stars, because the end result is indeed a pretty car, but because of the deficiencies, I can't give it 5 stars.

Thei was my first Moebius kit that I have built. Parts fit is very good. Body had many mold lines to clean up but details were very sharp. Instructions were well done. Written directions opposed to pictorial drawings worked well. Wire wheels stood out well after using black wash on them. I was impressed with the bumper fit and fit of the entire kit. I look forward to building more kits by this manufacturer in the future. A very fun build that turned out great right out of the box!!!

I just got this model in the mail from Hobbylinc. After going thru the parts and doing some test fitting and build planning, it is obvious that this is a very nice model! The instructions are clear and give color call outs for the different parts; they even tell you what colors the real came in when it was produced. There are even color pictures of the engine and interior to help with the decal placement.

Moebius models are great. The 56 Chrysler is molded well w little flash. Fantastic detailed engine, chassis, & interior. Windows fit perfectly. Only challenge was putting the body on. Careful pulling of the sides and it goes on.I wish Moebius made some custom options, not just stock. Some Fords and Chevys would be great.

This kit is the second Moebius kit I bought from Hobbylinc. The prices of the 2 kits are very reasonable. The quality and detail of the Moebius kits are very high,in my opinion. I'm looking forward to building this kit and adding it to my collection. I have been building model car kits for 60 years.

Very nice kit. Although I haven't started building it yet I can see that the quality is excellent. The instruction sheet is well done with actual photos. This is my first Mobius kit and now I'm sure it won't be the last.

Awesome kit! Just got in dropped off this morning and was very pleased upon opening the box. I'll definitely be making a kustom out of it.

Moebius name says it all, I love this build. The detail is always super. Parts fit right and there was no flashing anywhere.

I am looking forward to building more of their product. The subject matter is very appealing to me.
