Reviews : Moebius 1954 Hudson Hornet Coupe

I've built a number of Moebius kits, mostly pickups. I just finished the International LoneStar - cool looking kit when finished, but a nightmare to build, so I was a bit leery to start on the Hudson Club Coupe. Frequently, I do extensive modifications; rarely (any more) do I have a straight box build, but I decided to this as a box build. It's going together as smoothly as the LoneStar did not. Only real issue I've had so far (I'm finishing up the body paint today, then final assembly) has been a break in one of the side rails of the frame. Easy enough to fix, and once the floor pan is installed, everything lines up nicely. I needed to trim the locator tabs on the interior side panels SLIGHTLY - as in less than 1/16 - to get the panels to fit up to the front of the floor pan. Decals are nice; dash gauge decal isn't quite big enough, but it works. Moebius doesn't add molded gauge details, so unless you're REALLY good at that you need to use the decals. They are somewhat fragile, but not brittle. Be gentle.. The wire spoke wheels are WONDERFUL. I used a bit of flat black acrylic wash do dull it slightly and give some depth. A hint - put the wheels through the BACK of the really nice whitewall tires; you risk damaging the whitewall if you push the wheel through the front (ask me how I know.....). Overall, a quiet build, enough detail to make a REALLY nice addition to the collection without taking forever and a month to build. It's definitely not a one-day build; if you're diligent and can stay with it, it might take 2-3 days depending on the amount of detail you're adding.

I rarely do stock car kits but because I am so fond of Moebius's products I decided to pick up this kit. I learned a bit about the history and this car was considered modern during its day. The kit is typical of Moebius kits and the moldings and their fit is excellent. It was rather fun building a car that came out when I was born. I now proudly display it on my shelves and actually have two other Moebius model car kits to build in the future.

Had to try a Moebius kit, after reading all the glowing reviews. Kit goes together very nice and looks great when completed. What I like best about Moebius kits is the color instructions. Portion of the instruction sheet has color photographs of completed sections such as the engine, so no guessing at all.

I am actually building this kit right now as a weathered jewel in a used car backlot. This kit falls right in line with other Moebius kits I have built, super detailed even in places that are hard to see once built. These 6cyl Hudson engines are especially fun to build and paint. Excellent fit throughout!

This is an excellent reproduction of the 1954 Hudson Hornet. I remember these when they were on the road. This kit is well designed and molded. You will not have any issues putting it together and detailing it. Several color schemes are suggested, but go with what you think will look good. Have fun!

Amazing detail throughout. All pieces fit well; little or no flash. Almost no filling, or filing required. Finished model looks amazing! Highly recommend this kit.

I just finished this new Moebius kit, I enjoyed building it very much. The pieces all went together very well, directions and color suggestions were very well done.

This is a great kit. No flash. All the parts fit w no trimming. Glass fit good. Instructions have color pics of the model. Detailed engine.
