No helmets, No oxygen packs.

Kit has little to no flash.
I purchased this for kit bashing. I was never a fan of 2001 movie. Too boring. Visually it was cool, yet took forever to unfold.
Too me what's really cool about static space modrl kits are the figures included. The review pictures are clear enough, yet not all modelers use every spare part in a kit. So, I was hoping hoping that the space helmets and oxygen packs were in tgis kit to.
No such luck. ?
Not even the extra dude standing upright & walking has a helmet & oxygen pack.
Though these figs can still be used other spaceship kits.
I might even build this shuttle down the road or create a crash site diaromma.
Price was affordable though, which is important for kit bashing. The overpriced kits make no since to use in kit bashing. That's just throwing money away.
2001 Space Odyssey Moon Bus

This is a welcome release from Moebius Models for this old guy. I built an original issue of this kit back in 1974 and I noted some differences between this newer issue and the original kit. The cockpit windows on the old kit faired in the whole area in front of the pilots and the Moebius kit has smaller rectangular windows in that area. The studio model had no windows, so either configuration could be right. The aft cabin bulkhead was corrected to match the studio model and the cabin roof was altered for a better fit than the original item. This new kit is better than the original in fit and finish and it is much cheaper and easier than locating an original Aurora kit. I added machined aluminum engine bells to the model and it looks pretty close to the movie item.
Another Great Realistic Spaceship, 2001 Moon Bus
I am a huge 2001 fan and consider it the best movie I have ever seen of all genres. So when Moebius released its version of the classic Aurora kit I absolutely had to have one. I built this kit relatively quickly after purchasing it and it went together pretty much perfectly, clean moldings and nice fitting parts. It includes a full interior with character parts and freight as well. I added an aftermarket PE set and decals to add to the realism. It is such a cool vehicle although technically I really doubt it would be feasible as it would use far to much fuel. For the 2001 aficionado and model builder this is an excellent kit to build and display.
Great reissued kit

Built one of these in the late 60’s. This is a reissue kit and from what i can remember it looks pretty much the same. Lots of parts to keep you busy as this is not a weekend build if you want to paint it. The kit I received had little flashing and the parts fit was good. Lots of detail interior and exterior. Take your time and you will have a great show piece. No moon scape came with it so if you like a base to hide your LED wiring and power connection, plan on scratch building one with moon craters. This kit just begs for one.
