Reviews : Moebius 1966 Catwoman

Earlier this year I was in a rut in my building model hobby, and I wanted to do something different. I saw this model of Catwoman, and bought it. I never got the chance to build it because shortly after I got it, my home was destroyed in a fire. When I moved into my new home and got back on my feet I started buying new models, tools and paints. I decided to build the figures in the Batman series, but I bought and built Batman, Robin, and the Penguin first because of wanting to build the kits first that I could brush paint instead of spray painting. Now that I have my building supplies built back up I decided to get the Catwoman figure. This kit is a great addition to the series, as when completed it looks like Julie Newman. The options on this kit are the catatonic dart pistols than con me placed on her belt. If ding this option you have to open up the holes in the belt. In her right hand you can either have her holding a dart pistol or a whip. I chose to use the whip. They could have added another option and gave us heads of Lee Meriweather or Eartha Kitt, as they also played Catwoman on the series. The kit itself if excellent, as I had vey little flash to clean up, and the parts fit together with no problems. I read another review of this kit and I used their suggestion and used the Blazing Black spray paint, ant it came out great. My only complaint, and it's just my opinion is that I don't like to build models that are molded in black plastic. It is too difficult to get the paint to cover the plastic unless you primer the parts, as I did with flat white spray paint. I have now built the first 4 figures in the series, and I just got The Riddler. I hope when the rest of the figures in this series are released they are as well made as the others have been. I grew up in the 60's, and I remember the Batman craze, and I would recommend these kits to anyone who is interested in not only building a different model, but a fan of the old series.

This was the second in Moebius Model's set of the classic 1960s TV show Batman kits. It is a great kit to go along with Batman and the other five kits planned for the series. I believe Jeff Yagher sculpted it and the likeness, especially for styrene, is excellent. I bought this one and Batman from Frank at a Florida contest and went home and put them on the bench immediately. The fit and finish are of the typical Moebius quality. I painted Catwoman's outfit with Testors Blazing Black which gives the suit a sparkly effect much like the TV show suit. To top it off I won a 3rd place at Wonderfest 2015 with the pair.

Love this Catwoman model! Fun to experiment with the paint to make her suit shimmer. Looks fantastic on the shelf.
