Reviews : Monogram 1955 Ford F-100 Pickup Street Rod

I am a fan of Ford vehicles and I noticed that I had only a few trucks in my collection. So I purchased this kit and I was happy with the kit. The kit did not have much flash on the parts. I found the chrome parts to be plated very nicely. The assembly was fairly easy as I did not have any major problems during the assembly. The instruction sheet was fairly easy to understand which aided in the assembly. I only had a small issue when installing the interior. I rushed this part of the assembly but it is not noticeable. I was disappointed that I had only one engine assembly choice but the kit came with some extra pieces as to maybe assemble a different version of the 302 engine block, maybe they were some left over parts from a previous issue. The engine bay is large enough where a larger engine could easily be substituted for the 302. The decal sheet was nice but I did not use the flames. The instrument cluster decal was a nice addition as well as the license plate decals. I was hoping for a set of FORD letter decals to place on the tailgate and the decal sheet did not include decals for the script letters on the hood nor the emblem on the hood, if only they would have included that, however, if you are building a hot rod I suggest sanding the letters and the emblem off the hood. The wheels and tires are a set of biggie/smalls but I did not use them as I was adding much larger wheels and tires. The suspension pieces are not replicas of a Ford truck of that era. However the suspension was easy to assemble and somewhat easy to modify. I would recommend this kit if you like hot rod trucks but if you are looking for an accurate version of the '55 Ford F100 you should look elsewhere. However,with some kitbashing for suspension parts and wheels and tires you could build an accurate version of the 55 Ford F100. On a scale of 1 to 5 and 5 being the high mark, I give this kit a 4 as it is a great canvas for customizing.

This is another good kit from Revell/Monogram. Parts all fit well, but some did require a bit of trimming, though not excessive. There are a few very minor things I didn't care for with this model kit. It's a little more modern street rod than I would have preferred, my main complaint being the engine...it's a 5.0 Cobra Fuel Injected V8...I would have much preferred a period correct flathead, and I'll probably swap one in sometime in the future. I also don't care for the tail light assembly. I mounted the tag bracket in a more period-correct and in my opinion better looking way than intended, so the Ford lettering is upside down (extremely minor complaint, and if I cared that much I'd just trim it off). Then there's the interior. The quality is fine, but the installation is tricky if you try to follow the instructions, which are extremely poor when it comes to the interior. I found the easiest thing to do was to ignore the guide and install the glass first, then the dash and the side panels at the same time. It's easier to see how/where the side panels will fit that way, and it's important you get them right, because they're what helps hold the cab to the body. In the end there are a few changes that I'd make to this kit, but those complaints are very, very minor and overall I'm pleased with this kit.

You want to get a lot for your money? Get this (or a couple) of this kit! It builds up great. Simple construction and tons of options. Plus, at this price, you won't feel intimated to go out on a limb and customize it to look the way you want. I went with a real wood and stainless steel liner for the bed. The engine is kind of limited on how you can trick it out, but the room in the engine bay would give you space to put a jet engine in there! Plus, and I mean this, it would be an excellent first kit for anyone. The only downside was the decals. The register is wonderful, but not printed to fit the curves of the front hood especially. I drowned the hood decals in Microsol, but they still had a problem settling. Otherwise, thumbs up big time.

I love this truck it is a great addition to my truck dioramas and garages I love building trucks and this one definitely has a lot of different ways you could build it and that’s the beauty of this truck you can chose to lift it lower it keep it stock height or what ever else you can imagine I definitely am going to put another one in our stash and you can not complain about the price on this truck Pros: easy on the wallet, Very detailed, nicely casted, lots of possibilities, great for dioramas CONS: minimal flash if you are thinking of picking up this kit then do it it is a lot of fun to build this kit and you will have a lot of fun with it and it will look good for dioramas or whatever you want to make it for

Actually a nice build. Anyone should enjoy building it. Lots of options for somebody to customize, like you could chop top, change out motor etc. but all I changed was seats, and did my own color combo. I agree with things on other reviews. The interior was little challenging especially according to directions. Steering column definitely don't fit but its self standing so don't worry about getting it into the bottom of dashboard. And little funny note decal for dash panel is printed upside down. First pickup I ever did so now have try others. I can't compare to any other ruck I built. Bottom line it came out great I'm happy with it and proud to display it.

I love this kit it is awesome so much fun to build I am a huge truck fanatic and this kit is a very good asset to my dioramas as I can use it for many thing Work truck, Show truck, Daily driver etc this truck will work for any diorama and garage very nice details on this truck I had an awesome time building it and definitely want to get more and build them in different ways PROS: Cheap, No flash, Very accurate, Nice casting 10-10 stars for sure on this kit if you are thinking about getting this kit you should really consider it as it will look good in you diorama or garage and will also look like a part of what you are using it to do

Nice truck ditch the fuel injection for an intake and carb need an air cleaner added wood bed insert Pegasus Holly 23s put some chains on the tailgate Violet plug wires alternator heater hoses MSD ignition custom rear coilovers wood console and door panel inserts with purple dice on the rear view mirror fits together real well some wobbling front rear suspension pieces a little warped a little heat Bend no problem worth the money color is Krylon Fusion looks kind of purple to me it's gloss blue hyacinth

A pretty decent kit with minimal flash to clean up. Parts fit is pretty good with no real issues. The interior assembly is a little different than most, but it does go together fairly well. I modified mine with the wheels and tires from the Revell Dom's '71 Plymouth GTX kit. I lowered the front and rear suspensions to give it an in the weeds stance. A more basic and lower parts count kit, bit still an enjoyable build.

This is a lot of fun. Instructions are spot on and easy to follow. Flash is very light, just a sanding took care of it. Detail was excellent. Parts fit was good my only complaint was the ride height, it just looked off to me, so I lowered the stance and that cleared up that issue with me. I painted it black on the fenders with a red body and bed. I would recommend this kit to all builders.

A very basic kit which is easy to assemble. There are a ton of ways you can customize this kit. The price of the kit makes it a perfect choice to experiment with. The engine and exhaust included in the kit are minimal, but still offer sufficient detail and easy customization. This kit is definitely worth the money and I will pick up a couple more for future customization.

I love this truck! I'm working on it as we speak -- just waiting for the second coat of paint to dry (Gloss Green). All of the parts fit together well. Great details. Fun build for a novice like me. I've only recently starting building models. This one has been the most fun so far. I found it challenging, yet very rewarding -- so far.

This kit isn't perfect, had a bit of flash on one of the trees,but the chrome was clean. Couple very minor fit issues, easily fixed with a couple passes with a file. That said ,had fun building it,good detail and easy to add your own custom touch. At this price you almost can't afford NOT to get one.

This is a fairly simple truck, not a lot of parts. No flashing and parts fit well. The decals were old so I didn't use the flames. I painted it in metallic and coral blue. Overall, a fun and easy kit. Hobbylinc has it at a great price, well worth the price!

This is a pretty simple kit with so many different ways to customize it I chopped the roof and lowered the suspension and topped it off with oversized rims . Was my first custom job and enjoyed it this is a really awesome kit to work with.

This was a fun kit to customize. Easy to work with and fairly detailed. Nice representation of a customized f100 street rod. I did a lot of customizing to my model-tilt hood, added mercedes engine trans. Had lots of fun.

The instructions are super easy to understand. I had no problems putting the truck together all the parts went together with much work to them. I would definitely buy this truck again and again without hesitation

My granddaughter begged me to build this model for her. She asked for a cowboy hat to be added to the cab, one fit great in the seat. Then she wanted a saddle, it looked great in the bed. She just loves it.

Nicely made product. It is very well made you can tell by the way the plastic is everything fits together looks better not a lot of slag on it very well done

very nice truck I did this one in a sun burst yellow and put two strips down the hood that I got from a camero and it came out looking pretty good....

This would be Monogram/Revells kit that has been pushed out to many times. The flash on the parts is crazy. The fitment is ok but not great.

good quality and I enjoy doing it, wheel choice good be better, or can used from other model scrap yard of my own. overall fun to do.

Good kit! Super easy to assemble. Decals are sweet but you will want to purchase some decal solvent/softener to get best results!
