High flexibility, build it stock or not
The kit can be built as an accurate representation of a stock Supra. With the various optional parts included, there are many different combinations available to build. Engine - turbocharged or normally aspirated. Body - stock, wide fenders, front spoiler, hood bulge, side skirts, window louvers. Wheels - stock or custom (unfortunately, there is only one set of tires). Wanting to use the wide fenders, I decided that aftermarket wheels and tires were needed to fill the wheel wells better. The engine bay and interior have very nice molded-in details. Assembly was generally straight-forward and parts had almost no flash. However, I was not able to fit the body on the chassis with the engine and radiator installed as per the instructions. I removed the engine and radiator, fit the body on the chassis, and installed (with some fiddling) the engine and radiator together. One small tip is to use part of a rear hatch decal for the Toyota emblem in the front grille.
Two Supras

This was a pleasurable build with many options. After starting the first build I went and bought another one which allowed me to build multiple options. I combined the decal options on one while simplifying the other one. The kit did not have head lights; I dug some out of my parts box for head lights and turn signals. The fit in engine compartment gave me major challenges, to me it was too small. Overall, it was a great experience.
Great Model Kit Returns!
Round 2 did an excellent job re-popping this classic MPC Supra kit. Good initial piece fit and minimal sanding. I wish they would have provided dash insturment decals, but otherwise a fun to build kit of an incredible car.
