Reviews : MPC 1968 Dodge Coronet Convertible w/Trailer

I am really surprised at this kit! It was so well designed and molded that it truly seemed like a new tool. The windshield had 2 tabs in the rear and 2 pins in the front, making this a snap to assemble. In fact, it was so good, you could have skipped the cement! Other tab-pin combinations were pristine, which was really surprising for what I took to be an older kit. It almost seemed as if there was no wear on any of these points. Assembling the body to the chassis is still tight, but I did it, and I know you can, too! Again, it was suprising that the chassis did not need any glue to hold it in place. The only complaint I can come up with is a lack of detail. For example, no texture in the carpets, and that's pretty important for a convertible, but enough to deduct points? No way, Jose!

For an old MPC kit, this is a fun kit to assemble. I found some flash on the parts, but nothing too severe. The fit of the parts is outstanding, and the instructions are well written. The trailer is a nice accessory to this kit and includes some jack stands, a floor jack, and a gas can. I added a few tires from my spare parts bin to complete the look. To keep the items from sliding around inside the trailer, I put some Pledge floor polish on the trailer floor then sat the items in the polish while still wet. When it dried, they stayed put.

Enjoyable kit with many options. Drag or showroom stock. The trailer is a nice addition with floor jack and jack stands. Everything fit together well but the metal rear axle was short.

Great kit. Some mold lines to clean up. No flash. Box is packed full. Prices are always good. Ast shipping.
