Here it comes... Monkeemobile!
I was 14ish when the Monkees hit the TV screens and loved them. So when this kit was released in the mid-60s I built one. That is long gone but I picked up another when MPC re-popped them recently. It was a fun nostalgia build and decent enough kit with good fit and finish. I know my later build was much better than my original and it shows. I used Tamiya rattle can lacquer Italian red and got a nice body finish. I also stripped the chrome parts and repainted them with Molotow chrome which give a much better simulated chrome than the kit plating. It came out nicely and I was happy to have built one again so many years later.
Fun, quick build
Ok, it's the Monkeemobile. Not a whole lot you can do to customize it..
After due research, I found the tv show featured a tan top and interior; later versions and rebuilds had them white - I like the white better.
Simple build - I spent more time waiting for the paint to dry! Instructions aren't that clear; there's no paint suggestions or decal locations. I had to trim a significant amount off the left front of the supercharger base to get it to fit. Still was fun!
If you have any common sense, this could be an easy first kit, though some automotive modeling experience would be helpful.
