Reviews : Polar-Lights Star Trek USS Enterprise NX01 (Snap)

The Enterprise NX-01 model kit by Polar Lights may be a snap kit, but it's no snap to assemble. There are dozens of tiny little parts that challenged even my best tweezers. In a few instances (the running lights along the outer edge of the hull), I broke pieces trying to get them off the trees. Thankfully, a little dab of paint and they won't be noticeable. So my advice is to take your time with this kit, be VERY careful (especially of the clear parts), and be sparing with the paint, as even a light coat changes the parts' ability to snap into place. All of my complaints aside, no one noticed any of my gripes until I pointed them out. Once assembled, though, this is a nice looking ship. Its scale and number of small parts make it a challenge to assemble.

This kit goes together easily and offers a number of options for build and markings. You can build the NX-01 as seen in Enterprise with markings for the Enterprise, mirror universe enterprise, or the NX-02 Columbia. In addition you can build the NX-01 refit that didn't make it to TV, but is still a great bridge to the TOS style, adding a secondary hull. The rear most hull decal is quite finicky and needs a lot of small cuts and decal softener to achieve good results.

I have not had a chance to build this particular kit, but I do like the fact that you can build the regular, or refit version, and it includes decals for the alternate universe ISS variant as well.

I just the model today can't wait to get started on it. It's going to be a great sadditio to the collection

Love this scale of star ship and its classic look. Plan on getting a second one to make the Columbia.
