Probably My Favorite QUEST Model
I have two of these. I have a preference for longer rockets, and this one is about 22 diameters in length! The first kit I modified to take the old Quest D5-6 20mm motor, which made it a long-burn steam machine and a fun flight. The only improvement I could suggest would be thru-the-wall fins. On these high flights it's almost mandatory to use streamer recovery. Even with a 5 by 50 inch streamer, I've broken fins on a D5-6 flight. The newer version of the kit has a pre-colored red payload section and a plastic coupler with molded front launch lug guide--nice. And with the new 18mm Quest D16 and D20 motors, the stock 18mm motor mount is all you need. (For an even higher 18mm motor flight, there's always the Aerotech D10's or E25's, if you can find them.) If you want a 24mm motor mount, you can get that in the QUEST Icarus, which is nearly the same rocket. Put an E motor in that, and it's out of sight!
