Great for kitbashing, at the right price
By: glenamat
Rix offers three versions of a basic small wood-sided house: front porch, side porch, and no porch. Theyre a bit pricey for what you get if you pay retail list, but at a discount price theyre good for building a neighborhood. Ive combined two kits to make a larger house, scratch-built a porch, and lowered the ridge by cutting down gable end walls because in California (as opposed to New England) roofs typically had lower pitch. I recommend painting the roofs different colors (flat greens, browns, or grays) and adding some details such as plumbing roof vents which kits usually omit. With leftover styrene sheet siding from scratch building projects, its easy to make compatible garages and outbuildings.
Simple but nice.
This is a nice little kit that is easy to assemble. Since the windows are molded into the walls, you will need to take some care if you want to paint them contrasting colors. I masked them off to make it look neat. The interior is open and you can add lights and interior, if you want. I did. I have made 2 so far. The kit does not come with railings so you will need to add them if you want. I made mine from wood. All-in-all, it assembles into a good little kit. You can fill up a neighborhood fast since the house goes together easily.
Simple easy build

This is a simple easy to build house that lends itself to all kinds of modifications. I had no problems with it. Painting with flat colors then a flat coat of clear really makes the bare plastic look more realistic.
Nice basic house

This item was study quality and looked nice under the tree. Painting will add to the look of the house but nice basic house.
