Good Kit but it could use that little extra to make it great.

This is a great followup to the LX / Police car kit. This version has the skinny drag slicks from the 69 Nova in addition to the 4 regular tires in the original kit. It also has a nice and correct 6 point roll cage, cowl induction (and stock) hoods, all new Tubular front suspension, rear spoiler, Lightweight drag racing bucket seats, and Weld Drag Star wheels (one of my favorite wheel designs) and an extensive decal sheet with plenty of contingency sponsor decals. Please note, even though the box doesn't say so this kit includes all the pieces to build a factory stock 5.0 LX Mustang. Now where I would have liked to see some improvements: 1) the intake, while plenty of these cars are raced with fuel injection the race Intake setup is merely a tube that runs from the throttle body to the inner fender and disappears implying the open element (K&N style) air filter is hidden in the fender out of site. I would have rather seen a cold air box set up with the filter where you could see it or maybe an optional 4bbl intake and carb since many racers prefer this to fuel injection anyway. 2) I would also have liked to see some aftermarket headers and a set of at least Ford Racing Aluminum style valve covers since even the weekend warrior drag racers don't use the cheap parts store chrome stamped steel no name valve covers supplied in the kit. 3) Since this is supposed to be a realistic drag car a proper set of 10.50 Drag slicks or some type of DOT drag radial tire would have been nice instead of the 8 inch slick in the kit. 4) Racing Tach, it is far too small for a real dedicated drag car this kit attempts to replicate. My suggestion is buy the AMT 10.50 M&H Slick pack and a Revell 32 Ford of your choice (to kitbash engine parts with) to fill the gaps. Oh and if you also build Tuner Cars using the open element air filter from one of the Tuner Series kits from Revell and scratch building the rest of a K&N FIPK kit would work too.
A good kit that can be built stock

This kit comes with all the parts to build a stock LX. The instructions only cover building the drag version which has mags, drag slicks, hood, spoiler, race seats, roll bar, tach, suspension parts, intake manifold. Fun kit that offers many choices. I went for a rough junk yard miss matched parts look. Engine and suspension are all separate and many parts. Decal collection with many race stickers are fun to apply over the finished car. Parts are clean and fit very well. Instructions are not so clear on part order or orientation. The front suspension in particular require very careful review of the instructions, test fitting, and guessing. Decals are provided for the door handles, door and trunk locks. 5.0 decals for the fenders are provided but are larger than the molded emblems. Either grind off the emblems or skip the decals. Build your own and I see you at the drag strip!
Street or strip Mustang LX
By: sagtbone
My brother asked me to build a replica of his fox body mustang. Upon opening the kit, I discovered extra parts to build a stock version, therefore, I decided to build a street/strip version. The instruction sheet is for the drag car build. I recommend using the stock front suspension assembly as this will allow for easier fitment of the engine. The kit went together fairly smoothly, however, the front suspension causes the front to sit too high for my taste. I recommend cutting the spindles and re attaching them for a lowered front end. Overall, this was a pleasant build. I added this kit to my collection as soon as I got started as I want to build one for myself.
Love the notch

This kit almost perfectly depicts a small tire grudge racer from the early 2000s. The engraving and fit are excellent, with small parting lines and minimal flash. I like the way the front of the windshield is held in place by the cowl, requiring only a little E6000 to hold the back in place. I built my example more or less as a stocker representing a CHP SSP fox body from back in the day so the stock version parts were much appreciated. That uncovered an issue as none of the stock parts are even alluded to in the instructions. Also, it would be nice for a drag racer if a centrifugal blower and narrow front tires and wheels were included.
Basic kit good for customizing.

Very good kit for a basic weekend grudge racer. In a strange departure for Revell this kit uses small, individual metal axles to attach the wheels. Care must be taken to fit the axles in the wheels so they are held on securely and don't wobble.
I knew I wasn't going to stick with the plain N/A 302 that comes with the kit. So I added a BNL Resins turbo in the engine compartment. I bent up the straight tubes from the part trees in the kit to make the exhaust and intake plumbing. Then I ran the tubes into the back seat to make a simulated air-water intercooler.
An excellent kit of an overlooked car.

This is a great kit from Revell featuring two ways to build it. You can build it as the box art drag car or as a factory stock fox body, or even somewhere in between. The parts are well molded with nice details and little to no flash to deal with. The decal sheet is very nice although I didn't use that many of them. The instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow. The parts fitment is excellent although the front suspension assembly can be a little confusing. All in all this is a very nice and highly recommended kit.
Will have to purchase another!
This was a great kit that went together quite smoothly, once I figured out the front suspension and engine mounting. Parts fit was excellent with no flash and I just love glass that mounts from the outside. The only real issue I encountered was with the right hand 1/4 panel decal, the stripe that should be white is clear, left side is just fine. If your not using these decals it not a big deal at all. Definitely have to pick another one of these up!
I had a lot of fun with this kit.

Very well detailed kit.
I've got 3,one complete and the other 2 waiting for future builds.
The underbody was a tight fit going into the body and tedious drag version front suspension.
It will all fit together well tho.
Very versatile kit I'd say with the stock parts included.
I'm sure you'll want 2 if you want any at all.
Nice kit, will build again

Nice kit, very little flash. The front suspension was a little tricky but went together with a little persuasion. I have a few things left before I'm done with it and enjoyed building it. The hardest part was not cutting it up and making it a straight up dragster. That's why I ordered another one and it is going under the knife!

This model is excellent for beginners and anyone in general. Revell has always played a good part in adding details to their models such as detached windshield wipers, headlights, tail lights, steering box, brake fluid reservoir, etc. Will always recommend revell products 10/10.

Its a good kit if your into drag cars. Easy to build and so many different ways to do it. I would of of like to see long tube headers and maybe a carb set up as well. All around a good kit.
Good kit
