Are you really ready for this kit?
This kit started pretty good. The only issue I had early on was with the decals, which were old and uncooperative. Once I had ruined one of the sections of stripes, I couldn't continue with the rest of the striping decals. So, I decided to airbrush the stripes instead, but that's another story and not entirely relevant to this review. However, the fact that the instructions said to wait until the end to apply the front and rear clips was a big mistake. I had no problem getting the chassis in and out of the body, even after the front and rear clips had been installed. So, why make the modeler postpone these main assemblies? To give him fits? I think so! Strange way of running a business, if you ask me. Well, that's not even the really bad part, which also came at the end. Once I had the whole thing assembled, I realized that there was a 1/4 inch gap between the hood and the dashboard! Easily fixed, right?! Just move the interior forward so that the dashboard is right where it's supposed to be? Because then there is a 1/4 inch gap between the package shelf and the rear window! Silly me! Well, the new Revell, in their wisdom (or was it penny-pinching), decided on the following solution instead of redesigning the interior... They frosted 1/4 inch of the plastic windshield so that you would think it needed to be painted black, is if it was DC (decoratively correct). Ask me if I was impressed! The long and the short of it is that this kit should no longer be sold without a warning label - Revell is not responsible for any harm you do to yourself or your surroundings while building this kit! If you are new to this hobby, please don't start with this kit. It will ruin building plastic car kits forever more.
Great kit, I need another!
This is a very nice kit that builds very easily with just a couple slight issues I encountered. My rear bumper mounting pins were very short making it it little difficult to mount to the rear body panel. Step 12 shows mounting the interior tub to the chassis, but there are no alignment pins on the tub as shown. I glued my interior directly into the body instead with no problem. You can glue both the front end and the rear body panel to the body before painting and not have any trouble installing the chassis later. Install your grill into the body before gluing chassis to body. I do wish the molded in parts under the hood were separate parts, such as the battery, overflow tank and master cylinder, etc.
I'll have to get another so I can have both the white version and the blue as pictured on the box.
New Tool for Old School American Muscle!
Revell is seriously upping their game. This is the best Firebird kit I have ever built and I've been building models since 1980! My wife gave me this kit for my 46th birthday and the fit and finish of the parts are superb! Revell Monogram has always been my go to for kits and this it one of the best they have done yet! The decals are an absolute pleasure to apply. Just soak in warm water for about 10 seconds and they release from the backing paper with perfect precision. They even include a decal for the horn button on the steering wheel! The pad printed tires are beautiful and deep set muscular grill is menacing just sitting on the shelf! This went together so well it could be a first or second glue kit for the new hobbyist.
Still a great kit, even though it's an older mold.

This is probably my favorite Muscle Car, and I'm glad Revell finally re-released this kit. I built two of these at the same time and did one in white, and one in blue. Because it's an older mold, the engine is rather basic, as is the interior, but the body is very well done when finished, it looks exactly as it should. The biggest disappointment about this kit is the lack of Trans Am script for the fenders and rear spoiler, due to licensing, but aftermarket decals are available from Keith Marks to correct this issue. Overall though, this is another winner from Revell.
Well made kit
Nice clean parts, fit together well with a few passes of a file just to get them snug. The only issue I found was the fit of the tires on the rims, very tight. Had to wrap some sandpaper around a tapered rod and spin it inside the tire to open up the opening to get them on the rims

Another great kit from Revell. A pleasure to build. No fit issues or excessive flash. For the price of this kit, you can’t go wrong

Box said skill level 4. This is no level 4. More like a 2. But it's still a good model. Would recommend.
Great Kit
Quality product with minimal flash. I went more stock with it but definitely pleased with the results.
