There are plenty of reviews for this kit to help you decide whether you want go with this one or not. This is definitely old school modeling. The exterior parts have the old school raised rivets that tend to be sanded off when taking care of seams. There is quite a bit of thin flash to take care of too. It is molded in fairly soft plastic so it is easy to take care of. The worst things about the kit are the clunky propeller casting and the landing gear doors. The doors, as has been mentioned previously in other reviews, are not correct. If you were not aware of it, it would not bother you. They are nicely done in their incorrectness. The propeller and spinner cap are one comlpete casting and is very clunky. It takes some filing and sanding to get a decent contour. That being said, I really enjoy these older kits. They are reasonably priced, for the most part, and I now have the skills and the patience to build them to the level they deserve that I wish I could have as a youngster. A little challenge can be a whole lot of fun.

First of all: I recomend this kit as a vintage or as a begginers airplane. I do not recomend it as a true model, there are too many innacuracys, to many lack of detail and big details missing. The belly oil refrigeration entry is bad. There is no exit for the air that enters it. the cockpit is too simple to be called it... the landing gear wells are horrible! But... this is a model from the sixties... at the time, to do the moulds for a toy was too expensive, and there weren't many costumers for it. So, I do appreciate Revell effort to do a P51 mustang at that time. However, I to strongly criticize them for still selling them as New. If they made a vintage line, for us to revive the models we made as kids, no prob. but to be selling them with a nice box, nice looking pic, that is cheating on us. For all the reviews and kits I've made, I've enjoyed to buld it on the first time, but hated to see it still being sold as new...

A kit with a handful of parts and a lot of work to make it look decent. This kit is priced cheap because it is cheap. There was a lot of flash to clean up and major parts fit together very poorly. Large gaps where the wings meet the fuselage will require lots of filling and shaping. Plastic is somewhat softer than most others so be sure to use cutters to remove parts from sprues. Not a lot of detail but that's to be expected for this level kit. The kit requires a lot of large area painting in order to make it match the box art unlike kits from Hobby Boss. The decal sheet only has the basic emblems and no large area color decals. The kit can be assembled with the gears up or down. Instruction sheet is easy to follow and has most of the needed information. Bought this kit mostly out of curiosity. It's a good kit for practicing or learning modeling skills without paying a lot for a better quality kit to practice on.

It's an average kit plastic is okay quality molding it average at best and nothing of note besides its cheap and can be used as a guilt free way to make a crashed mustang

I had to do an excessive amount of extra plastic from the cast. Pieces are loose fitting or too big. On a high note it looks ok at a glance. Very low price.

Haven’t started. Working on this yet, but looks like. Just what i wanted making. A diorama and this will fit in just fine.

Tiny little model! Not a lot of detail or parts. If you are looking for an easy weekend project, this is it!
