Reviews : Revell-Germany Avro Lancaster Mk.I/III Bomber Plane

This kit has been around for about 15 years now and it's still the best 1/72nd scale Lancaster on the market. There are extra parts that that will allow you to model specific aircraft such as narrow and broad-blade propellers, different exhausts, canopies, turret fairings and weapons fit. The only place this model falls short is the main landing wheels as they lack any hub details. I used a pair from an old Airfix kit and the hub and tread detail is actually very good on those parts. The gun turrets are well detailed for the scale and can be installed after the model is painted which makes masking much easier. The wings and horizontal stabilizers fit well enough that they could be painted separately and attached afterwards. The main landing gear is very fine and requires care while assembling but they are quite strong when finished. I don't recommend this model for beginners because of the small parts and things like the turrets and landing gear can be a bit frustrating for some. I finished my bird as Grogs The Shot which flew some of the last missions over Germany and would also drop food and supplies to newly freed POW's.

Very well detailed for a Revell kit of this scale and the reviews of others prove true. Some very detailed parts that are small so care is warranted. Surface detail could be a little better and yes landing gear a little clumsy but other areas have multiple options which is nice (3 versions of bomb bay or closed). For the price, way outweighs other brands for Lancaster's. First impression doesn't make a good unboxing video for YouTube but the pictures on the box suggests a great result if I take twice as long putting it together. Serious consideration to make Mk1 or Mk3 so perhaps I will return to purchase a second to make both, followed by the 'usual' Dambuster version so many find popular.
