good model
Revelle Germany did a fantastic job on this kit. from my own research, I found it to be extremely accurate. don't know where the rote and blaue references came from as I could find nothing to support these designations. only two prototypes ever flew and one of these was a glider. the second crashed after, reportedly 2 or 3 test flights. a third was captured by the allies and is at the Smithsonian for restoration, it never flew. look at a picture of the B-1B to see how the GO229 influenced future thinking. the fits were spot on except for some minor issues on the underside. I built the blaue version with the canopy open. the linkage, for lack of a better term, on the main nose wheel under carriage was a little tricky. I highly recommend this kit.
A very interesting model. A must, whatever you're collecting.
I've built this kit years ago, and I was surprised with its quality. For me, as a young boy, to have the secret weapon of the Luftwaffe was something astonishing. The kit had open doors to see the guns inside the wing, the landing gear was finelly detailed, and we could built it as it was transported from Germany to the states, with the wings disassembled, even if its not explicit in the manual. Decals were ok, manual also. I just wish that I could have built it better! Whatever is the set you're builting: stealth airplanes, WW2 airplanes, jet airplanes, this one must be on your collection. It will be fun for you to build, and rewarding to watch it done.
The beautiful German flying wing.
The Luftwaffe create at the end of WWII, some planes that were well ahead of its time. The Go-229 is one of the more beautiful examples of that. The kit is old, but very well molded. Nice details, especially the landing gears Very simple cockpit. The assemble is quite simple, as the silhouette of this jet is. The decals of this kit are OK, they are obviously speculative, as no operational Horten ever reach combat units. It's a nice addition to the Luftwaffe WWII futuristic projects.
Cool
this is a great, well detailed kit, the only one made too to my knowledge. It was featured in a national geographic documentary recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kowjlqwy5XA
good kit, few broken pieces
the kit has really good surface detail and even some internal detail, but several parts came chipped/broken. also, be careful reading the instructions.
