Vastly Better Decals for this version of the GT-350H
The 1966 GT-350H by Revell is an excellent kit. The parts fit well together, the interior is detailed, and the powertrain is accurate. I have built this kit several times in different variations. In this version, Revell includes metallic gold Le Mans stripe decals. The decals in the Revell of Germany version are far superior to the cheaper and easier-to-find American Revell issue and include wheel hub Hertz logos and other small detail decals. Further, they are actually metallic, and the stripe decals are cut around the hood scoop with a separate decal for the scoop itself. I still chose to paint the stripes because I have more control with paint than large decals. Monogram originally tooled the kit in the mid-1980s, but it has held up exceptionally well and is well-engineered. I have not had any trouble with these kits not fitting or having excess flash on the parts. The rear quarter windows can be fiddly because they have to be held in place while the glue dries. The gluing surface is only the edges, which are not a tight fit. I consider these the most challenging parts of the model. A newer modeler with relatively little experience would be fine with the GT-350H construction. With a bit more experience, painting the stripes would not pose an issue either. I have enjoyed building this kit in several variations. I rate this version of the GT-350H with five stars because of the high-quality decals compared to those found in the American Revell kit. I would be happy if Revell included these superior decals in the American Revell kits, as this is the only difference between them.
Easy, fun pretty correct.
I have built a total of 4 of this model, albeit the were the older monogram versions. Looking at the pictures of the newer version, they appear exactly the same as the older one. It goes together pretty easy. Overall detail was pretty good. Not a difficult model to built, and they turn out pretty good. Very little flashing needed to be removed and the body seems didn't need much sanding. It is a good model for a starter or for just a fun throw together for experienced builders.
Average Quality Revell Germany kit
Was kinda surprised at the average quality of this Revell Germany kit. Part fit was average. Molding was just ok. Front and rear body parts were difficult to fit in place. Body stripe decals look great but are difficult to lay down smoothly on curved parts.
Nice older kit, but it is starting to show it's age
This is a nice older kit in a new boxing. The decals are a bit tricky to apply and get to lay down on the surface. I recommend using Micro Set and Micro Sol to get them to go into place.
Awesome Mustang!
If you love your Mustangs, you have to have this kit. Take your time with the decals. Fun build.
