Reviews : Smalltown Buck's Book Shop Kit

This was one of the best HO models I have ever seen - handsome, detailed, and realistic. It looks great on my layout, adding old-school urban flavor, especially when placed between other brick buildings. Though the storefront decal reads Buck's Book Shop, the structure has a generic design and can be modified to represent any kind of store you need - pet shop, Masonic temple, union chapter, etc. (I added books to its front windows for extra detail.) My only issue was the instruction sheet, which had a vague illustration and a few, random tips, but no assembly steps whatsoever. I put it together based almost purely on guesswork. Luckily, it's fairly straightforward! (The kit includes extra window frames, presumably so the building can be customized.)

Purchased this item to add to the line up of buildings on my lay out. It was a relatively easy model to build. A few shortcuts were taken by the manufacture leaving the builder at a small disadvantage. There are very few instructions to follow but easy enough to figure out. It is one of Smalltown's collection of model buildings and there are extra parts to accommodate the one you purchase. You just have to differentiate the ones on the instruction sheet and set the extra ones aside. The picture on the front of the instruction sheet was the biggest advantage in helping put this together. N0t really for a novice modeler in my opinion.
