Reviews : Tamiya Light Cruiser Mogami

This kit depicts the ‘Mogami’ IJN cruiser following her refit for additional armament after the battle of Midway, in which she was hit 6 times by American bombs/torpedoes but survived. Her sister ship, ‘Mikuma’, was not so lucky and was sent to the bottom with 4 Japanese carriers. Like most Hasegawa waterline models, this kit comes together well. She differs from her original design in this kit with the additional 2 main turrets to the stern and the aircraft storage area reduced, although 2 catapults remain. There are numerous small parts such as AA guns and searchlights that should be painted before detaching from the molds, but it’s nothing that a good pair of tweezers can’t handle. Recommended.

This model has good detale for the size. The parts fit well but care with the small parts and masts can be trecky to set. The inst are in japanese. But the digrams are easy to read and paint chart is good. A good model to combare. For this shows the ship as light cruiser that was rebulit as a heavy cruiser. I have this ship in both forms. A good model for all.
